I'd just like to add that the irony that there are hella mods in this thread ATM, and NONE of that attention is for my sake isn't lost on me. :lol

I didn't respond to you troll. I responded to Hoodonnit and you and Dath both jumped on me, again. Congrats on making zero sense. :clap

You did respond to me - asking me if I was "trolling" you again to which I replied that I had misunderstood your post as it appeared to me that you were agreeing with Hoodonnit and his response to Dark Artist...which would mean that I thought you post was in response to what DA said. Again...my bad.

And I didn't jump on you...I was merely confused by your post. I didn't know why you were bringing up mods when the discussion had been moving along rather peacefully until now and no mention of mods abusing their powers or whatnot had even been taking place.

And now that I have answered your question...or I am assuming it was a question/comment directed at me, since you quoted me..I am done. :wave

I guess my reality is that if there were such a riot and hordes of people (armed or unarmed) were going to try and break into my home. It would be game over for me. If Seattle turned into a war zone - I would simple get on a boat and go to one of the islands and try and survive there, finding my own food and making shelter. Would I survive for long? Who knows but I like my chances with that a lot better than trying to fight off rioters. If ____ really hit the fan...let them take my home, my possessions...it's all material and really doesn't matter in the big scheme of things. For someone like me, it makes more sense to flee than fight. Now if it was just one intruder breaking in...then I would fight. But I got to look at my odds..and I'm not going to try and be Rambo because that will most likely be the quickest way I get killed.

Now this is the scenario for my situation...not saying this applies or should apply to anyone else.

I guess it depends on how your house is laid out. got lots of windows? how many doors? wide hallway/narrow hallway? you could prolly figure out a strategy

yeah, but how are you going to get through the hordes to get to a boat? How are you going to hunt on your island? Not saying your wrong and I kind of agree with the run to the hills mentality rather then sticking around to protect your Sideshow collection, but I also want to make sure I get to that island, or hills, even if it meant shooting my way thought people trying to kill me. :dunno

are you 12? Are you capable of communicating without resorting to name calling? Common sense would suggest calling someone a troll and continuing to go after them even after they have moved on, would in fact make you the troll :cuckoo:

Where in my post does it suggest that I'm "stomping" on someone elses 1st amendment right?

You seemed to be complaining about what people were posting, I took from your post that you felt they shouldn't be allowed to post their nonsense. If that was not your intention I apologize. I feel everyone has the right to share their opinions, no matter how wrong or insane they are :lol

If this guy couldn't have armed himself legally, he would have done so illegally.

You can get the money out of politics if you get the government out of money.

Most people do not want the latter.

You'll never get it all out. But these people still need to go.

I agree with Jen. If the situation looked grim and my home no longer looked safe, I'd bail and subdue/maim/kill anybody who tried to stop me from getting my family to safety. Though I'll admit that I probably have considerably more fundamental survival skills than the average person so shelter, hunting and foraging wouldn't be nearly as difficult.

Yep, it's almost like we're members who can post in threads that interest us. Weird.

By the way-- I haven't censored a single post in this thread-- I merely requested an edit on a post that was offensive and when that wasn't done I edited it with a warning... almost like we're allowing a freedom of expression and an attempt to respect ALL opinions.

Puzzling indeed.

Seriously? You don't see the irony of your post by leading with a statement thats supposed to be insulting? How old are you?

I replied to them after they replied to me. I haven't responded to Jen since she said shes moving on. Please learn to read or stop kissing so much mod butt whichever is your strategy here...or just fueling the fire which looks like was about to burn out.

You probably shouldn't use phrases like "common sense". Just trying to help.

then its settled, we all head to Nam's bunker :clap

Yes, you need to pay for government, and you need courts to arbitrate contracts. But the main reason people with money seek to give it to politicians is because politicians have control over the economic life of the nation. No one would be looking to buy favors if no favors existed to be bought.

but Jen has such a nice butt :wink1:

What you call irony, I call a genuine question. See I work with 12 year olds and that kind of behavior is what I would expect from one. However I would think most adults would be a lot more capable of referring to someone by their name rather then resorting to name calling. So if your truly 12 I would give it a pass, if your a grown man I have to wonder if you don't have something better to do :dunno

Yeah its kind of funny, I think 9 out of 10 posts we're in, you've got the limelight. :yess:
You can have it back.

That would be especially interesting. It just so happens that this psychological phenomenon has roots in a historical time and place that would, and would not surprise many people. For one, the technological distance between people was much smaller. Very pastoral societies. For two, they became notorious for their willingness to kill people.

Alienation, angst, etc. is a distinction straight out of 19th century German academia, and art, and it was an accurate reflection of the culture. (The phenomenon transplanted successfully in Russia.)

That's interesting--- I'd like to understand more about the common links. Those that do not learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them-- and now our technology has advanced to where the mistakes can be that much more amplified.

my sister in laws family has been buying freeze dried food in bulk and storing it for some end times/doomsday scenario. At first I thougth she was kind of silly, but seeing whats been going on in the world makes me wonder if she is just being prepared.

Are they Mormon? My girlfriend is and her church requires them to keep enough food and supplies on hand for 3 months. There's actually companies that supply them. She showed me the catalog for it.

To be honest, I'm a woman pretty much alone. I'm screwed anyway you look at it. There's no way I could defend myself against a hoard of people.

So, since Jen was labeling me a troll as well, by your logic (or lack ) she acts like a 12 year old? Or again, you just stick your nose in to get brownie points. Good job man, mission accomplished. Two posts in a row of trying to insult me, but I just feel sorry for you. Why don't you grow up and do what everyone else has and move on? You must be a shining example for 12 year olds.

Thankfully, I only live about 1/2 mile from the beach. If things start getting crazy...it will happen in the downtown area first and then spread out to outlying neighborhoods. I'm in West Seattle and you have to take a big bridge to get over here from the mainland. So by the time the hordes made it this way..I'd have plenty of notice to get my ass out of here.

In the NW we have lots of fish...so I'll grab a fishing rod and a knife. I don't own a gun...so won't be able to hunt that way...but at one time I knew how to make snares....maybe I should practice some more. It will definitely be a struggle...but better than being in the middle of a gunfight. I also have a couple books on edible plants in the area that I will be sure to grab. What will probably kill me though is not being able to make fires. I've never been able to make one with just a flint. I'll bring a crapload of lighters and matches with me...but once they are out...then I will be screwed. But hopefully by that time, it may be safe to venture back to the city again.

actually she is Mormon. I saw the catalog too. Some of the food sounded pretty good. I can't say its a bad idea to have supplies for 3 or so months on hand.

Europe had a hard time with the transition from a feudal to an industrial society. So much so, that the academics turned against it completely. This was happening as early as the mid-18th century, and the French Revolution was the first example of that in action. All of the bombthrowers and revolutionaries of the 19th century were self-acclaimed heirs to that tradition. The man who inspired Lenin referred to the French as "the great terrorists of 1793".

sounds like a cross between Survivor and Hunger Games.

I wonder how many people are going to leave this thread sometime today and go pack an emergency if the crap hits the fan bag :rotfl
