So quick observation here... Can we all agree that the killer must have been a big Nolan nerd and was obssessed with the batman movies franchise that Nolan created and identified himself with some of the characters in the movie...

.... Seems like deja-vu with some fan boys posting on internet forums !!! :horror

Are they Mormon? My girlfriend is and her church requires them to keep enough food and supplies on hand for 3 months. There's actually companies that supply them. She showed me the catalog for it.
To be honest, I'm a woman pretty much alone. I'm screwed anyway you look at it. There's no way I could defend myself against a hoard of people.
Thanks for that link....I am realizing that I am pretty unprepared. I'm going to need a damn big bag for cooking supplies, clothing, food, a tent, bed roll, sleeping bag, water, etc....
In many ways, having an emergency supply of basic necessities is common sense. If the electric grid shut down for a week or two in a heavily populated area, think about the chaos that would occur. No gas, no grocery stores, no fast food...I would wager 90% of the population in major cities are completely unprepared and would begin killing each other for water let alone food and medical supplies.

Zombie bait. :wave :lol

It's a good thing he wasn't a Hulk nerd.

Yup.

Why are people losing their ____?

There was a guy on a special last night who was addressing this. I can't quote him and of course it's not online to view again. He made a lot of sense really.

I would prefer to reserve judgement until there are some facts other then he called himself the joker in evidence.

No. Just like Call of Duty and Mortal Kombat games?

It has come out that the nutjob did die his hair red some time ago, but he never said he was The Joker. So how much this has to do with Batman, know one knows yet. It could just possibly be that he knew that this would sell out before hand and he knew it would be a packed house.

One thing that I didn't get in alot of the newscasts I've seen, the seemed to tie the killer "dying his hair red" and that he said he was the Joker.

Is there a time the Joker died his hair red or the news just over dramatizing the hair thing? You'd think if he was a die hard Nolan Joker fan as some may suggest, wouldn't he have had green hair.

I know its not a big deal, but it bugged me. :dunno

IMO, no matter what side you stand on guns, its past time to admit that ground won't and can't be made on that front in either direction and to start addressing the psychological and societal breaks that are causing and allowing this to happen on a more frequent basis. Talking about guns is really just a distraction from the major issue which is people increasing want to execute harm and to a greater degree on other people.

Is it growing? Or are we just becoming more hypersensitive to it and paying more attention when these types of stories come out? Remember in the zombie thread, people were posting "another outbreak" but if you looked at the articles, most were old and some as far back as the 90's. It doesn't diminish your opinion though, but strengthens it, showing that this problem has been continuing on, despite any legislation passed either way regarding superficiality.

I was wondering the same thing until I saw one blogger link his picture to that of Nurse Joker from TDK.

Man, I had to google an image. Guess I don't pay very good attention in movies. :dunno

:horror And the plot thickens. :google

point being its the only time that I know of that the Joker had orangish hair. I do not particularlly believe that the guy died his hair to be like the joker, otherwise he would have died it green. Further more if he was some Batman nutjob like the media is trying to make him out to be, he would have probably known the right color of Joker's hair.

I think some people are just trying to blame it on Nolan's Batman. Just like after Columbine they wanted to blame Marilyn Manson.

I personally think he chose that movie because he knew it would be sold out and with all the anticipation of the film, his actions would give him world wide press. Everyone in the world is talking about him.

And acting on his actions. He literally had the whole world for a stage, his actions had effects in other countries. The double edge sword is how do you defend yourself as a people against this and take appropriate measures to make people safe without making it look like to other potential timebombs that this guy has gotten his infamy he may have been looking for. We can't ignore it, but how do we make it look like he didn't accomplish getting the attention he wants? What a ____ty rock and a hard place.

I definitely think its been growing decade by decade. I don't research these things, but seems to me that cases of random, non monetary or gang related violence, particularly those done by high school or college age people is on the rise. I know just from personal experience, we were always warned about gangs or sexual perverts. No one really thought to tell us to avoid college science students or emo white boys.

Without having ESP, that's virtually impossible. The best you can do is look at the tragedy this POS caused and think about what you would do should that scenario arise. Outside of that, there's nothing else anybody can do. A perfect example is the underwear bomber. Despite all the heightened security he still managed to get the bomb on a plane. People were proactive in dealing with that situation as a result of the tragedy of 911, and the danger was thwarted. This is all anybody can expect and the best we can do.

I just want to say that I wasn't trolling by any means, just adding to the conversation and sharing my opinions... I apologize to anyone who thought that trolling was my intent.

Secondly, Nam... I respect you man.. but I wasn't calling YOU specifically Conservative, just making a statement about Cons calling themselves Independents these days.

And Yes, I live off of the system... but through no fault of my own. I have a BA and have put in hundreds of applications. I am either overqualified or underqualified, and min. wage jobs would not pay for my son's day care. So yes, I am on Food Stamps and Medicaid. I don't use the Medicaid, but I have it just in case. The food stamps help a lot, and we are very grateful for that. I'm not buying new games, nor new figures, or comics right now... before anyone says I am "taking advantage" of the system. :lol

I'm not on Welfare. But yeah, thanks for labeling me as some kind of "leech" on the system, that will defend it simply because it's what I am using at the time.

I'm done debating the gun control issue.. we all have our opinions, and I respect a lot of the ones that have been shared. Yes, even those I don't entirely agree on. But I'm gonna stay out of this conversation, I don't want to stir up any anger.
