Deckard, he never said he was the Joker. That was just another thing that was thrown out there in the beginning.

How do you know to believe the second comment rather than the first? The backtracking on "I am the Joker" could easily be damage control from the cops to cover the leak of information. I think we won't know conclusively until the arresting officers and witnesses give their official statements for the court.

The media is searching for anything... They've interviewed a woman who worked at a convenience store who sold him a Coke and they actually asked the question "Did you see any warning signs?" The facts of this case can be summarized in one newspaper article and now everything else is just filler.

i honestly think the media coverage is AS scary as the incident itself. maybe moreso. we've seen it with this, we've also recently seen it with treyvon martin as well. we saw it during the japan earthquake and el nino. they seem to be so eager to construct some narrative that it supersedes getting it correct. plus they now have 24 hour news cycles to fill. fear mongering and false narratives now pass as news.

and unfortunately thats far more influential than any batman movie. i dont know when this switch happened, when journalism actually died, but it definitely seems like its becoming more and more prominent within the last few years to be sure.

Until the USA tightens it's gun laws you will continue to have these mass shootings! Why does anyone need to own an assault rifle or a gun for that matter unless you are shooting as a sport, farmer etc The right to bear arms is a 200 year old relic, the excuse that guns don't kill people do is a bit of a cop out. I have been to the USA many times and the amount of crazy people there is pretty scary, combine that with the fact you can walk in to a department store and buy an assault rifle and you have a recipe for disaster. The police are there to protect your property you don't need a gun to do so.

Sorkin's new show on HBO called The Newsroom does a great job of highlighting just that.

well, if we decided to ban things that nobody needed, we'd have quite the list. im not a gun guy, but its hard for me to pin the blame on the guns and not the crazy.

A choice is not determined. That is the distinguishing characteristic of choice. The word is meaningless otherwise.

Choice is just a word created by humans, it doesn't have to be a fact.

The source of a choice is the chooser. I don't know of any other way to say it.

Right.... The person is responsible for his own actions, we can't blame everything/everyone else because of murder caused by one person. I don't disagree with this.

But how did the chooser come to his conclusion, his choice? Actions? Beliefs etc? From thin air? From the brain? The choices are put into action by the person but where did they come from?

Because if the "choice" to murder is free will, independent of outside sources, then that would mean that some humans are biologically, naturally, murderers who just want to kill.

can i just go on record and say that this is the dumbest, most unamerican response to any type of debate consisting of american policies. particularly when talking to fellow americans, which i'm aware, he's not in this instance.

thats it. rant over.

Sure you can! Is this better? My reply is still the same. Stay out of my country if you don't want to be here or want to call everyone crazy. If I started bashing the middle east or some other country I would be infracted or banned. But again it's cool to bash the US here.

No they still will happen.

Why does anyone need to own an assault rifle or a gun for that matter unless you are shooting as a sport, farmer etc The right to bear arms is a 200 year old relic,

Call it whatever you want. The right to bear arms is one of our basic rights.

the excuse that guns don't kill people do is a bit of a cop out.

No it's not

I have been to the USA many times and the amount of crazy people there is pretty scary,

That's a rather rude assumption.

combine that with the fact you can walk in to a department store and buy an assault rifle and you have a recipe for disaster.

No you can't just walk in and buy one. The rules vary from state to state but they all have background checks. Felons can't just walk in and buy what they want. Neither can people that have been involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

The police are there to protect your property you don't need a gun to do so.

Uh huh

Many people who, it seems, are better informed than you have tried to prove this and have not been able to. Are you somehow better able to prove this claim from your armchair in another country?

If so, I would like to read all about your evidence.

i dont disagree with you here. that response just really irks me. as an american, we have the rights, and are encouraged to debate and occasionally disagree with the merits of our policies without the end result being - "you dont like it? get the eff out."

flag burning - dont like it? get the eff out
gun control? - dont like it? get the eff out
patriot act - dont like it? get the eff out
health care - dont like it? get the eff out

IMO, that tagline is incredibly unamerican. you can go on and tell him how wrong he is without resorting to that. again, only my 2 cents.

As an American I also have the right to tell him to get the eff out. :lecture

I become angry when I read your post. If I ever go off the deep end I am blaming you.

you still bother to read his posts? :slap

Do you want to believe the first comment for some reason? You like conspiracy theories?

you are so correct. To many people are sheet and believe whatever they are told by the media, and these days much of it is untrue, or politically skewed. Its the dumbing down of America.

why does anyone need to know how to read? Perhaps to go back through the thread and see where most, if not all, of your points were addressed. :slap
