18 dead in Connecticut Elementary School Shooting

so about 90 minutes ago in a mall in a an affluent area near me, a man just got arrested for firing off 50 rounds in the parking lot..

Anyone else wondering if the offenders in the events after this week's shootings heard about the story and were inspired to follow suit? I find it odd that it's just been tragedy after tragedy.

People can be so disturbed/stupid/evil/whatever-you-want-to-call-it that they'll mimic anything. I have no idea what to even think about all this. Other than the usual 'no faith in humanity' thing. We live in a ____ed up world, no doubt.

Totally agree. I won't talk to my kids about God or religion until they're old enough to think for themself without being brainwashed. I don't want them to have any part of it in school either.

Like I said before I am pretty sure all the teachers were praying. I don't even understand why people online are bringing the subject of prayer and god into this, I was shocked when I saw all these facebook fights about it.

Prayer is just hope. I can understand why they prayed. For people to actually say (on twitter and facebook) that it happened because they took God out of school is mind boggling to me.

See thats the problem these people are saying it as fact. They have no idea why this truly happened nobody does. I'm just worried more **** is going to happen. It seems like every year we have some big shooting or mass murder. Half my facebook page is like well I think it's time for the world to truly end. Yet they aren't thinking little children would be killed in that as well as every innocent human being. Everybody needs to just stfu about their stupid beliefs and just start learning how to better themselves and their community.

Every year? There's been like 7 that I can remember recently, one in an Old Bridge NJ Pathmark about 10 mins from me. This one just hurts on a personal level because they were KIDS. A shooting has never made me cry and feel so helpless to protect my own children, until now.

This. I'm betting it has something to do with the 21st. Not because I believe the world will end, but because there are people out there naive and insane enough to do something this sick because of the date. I think it's likely that those responsible for the Alabama parking lot story two hours ago, the Alabama hospital shooting earlier this morning, the teen arrested for plotting a shooting yesterday, the Sandy Elementary shooting, the Clackamas shooting, etc. decided to jump on the same crazy train as the initial offender, convinced that it's the right time to have a breakdown and do it. And that scares the s__t out of me because who's to say we won't get more reports in the coming days?

Humanity's lowering the bar with every hour now. Suddenly it's a competition.

And in regards to prayer,would it have prevented this tragic event? I don't know that for certain if it would or would not have,but there are people insulting believers who believe in prayer....God does answer prayer.I have personally seen/experienced this in my own personal family life..

The reason why prayer isn't in schools anymore is because the schools have become too diverse to have Christian prayer only. No one is stopping anyone from praying if they want. You don't need to pray out loud for God to hear you.

Also has anyone else read that the killers mother had been preparing for the end of the world? I know that's not the cause of this, but just like blade said whose to say alot of this stuff isn't happening because of this whole end of the world thing. All I know is I hope nothing else happens.

It never ceases to amaze me when a horrible tragedy like this will happen and immediately after the profiling of the suspect will come on the news or Internet saying how he was an excellent student, a geek, a very friendly person to others yet for the most part a loner. Basically many are surprised that a person with this similar kind of profile is capable of doing the terrible things he did. Well IMO this sounds like the perfect profile for a serial killer.
I can almost guarantee many that if this same person was kind of a dumb arse in school and hung out with the Jocks and went to all the parties and screwed many of the cheerleaders in High School...he would not have committed these murders.

It is usually the left out geeks who never get laid that become killers. This is a fact and I am not trying to be funny.

Sounds like the guy had some form of Aspergers. His parents divorced, though he was well off. He was a loner. Still doesn't explain it. He went from no crimes to kill mom, kill kids, kill self.

Where's the second guy they found on the scene? Anyone hear about him?

Haha oh man this is funny because I was actually describing myself and did not realize it...but this does prove that not all people like myself such as many from this forum who collect figures become murderers.. I am actually very proud of being a very smart person and I love how I do not fit in it makes me feel unique...because most people in my area are a'holes or just trashy people who I definately do not want to be like. So I am somewhat proven wrong this is not something to stereotype.

This whole thing is just hard to believe, it really is just unimaginable that a disturbed 20yo would go to an elementary school, of all places, to shoot it up and commit suicide. My heart goes out to all those affected by this horrible tragedy.

This. Some learn to emrace their different nature and manage to keep it together, others can't. The murderer's being weak was his sickness. You either handle what life throws at you or you don't. No matter how difficult things get, there are people who make it through. His wiring just wasn't stable enough to do it.

I am actually feeling a little paranoid and a little bit scared for my family members and friends. I didn't really care about next week being the end of the world but I am afraid now.

Yes...I really wish I could just pass out into a coma and sleep off these next few Months as I too have a bad feeling.
After thinking about how this guy (call him a kid if one likes, but to me a 20 year old is officially a guy) of all places decides to go to a school and kill off a bunch of little kids. Killing grown ups is no better but still this is just so wrong.
