nice job anthrapoid. there is no question about the boots now. i am still ok with the boots as is, (since i never noticed the difference in the movie) - but am interested in what you do with them - and based on that i may purchase a pair from you. it's hard to spend even more money on an expensive figure already!!

I've been off the boards a while(busy) , but WOW!
Thank God for obsessive people......Keep up the GOOD work man.
I noticed some of the same discrepancies, but I'll probably only have time to correct one or two of them, I'll just live through your custom.

I'm about thirty minutes away from completing a Kane headsculpt, just got a couple of adjustments to do so it is easier to get it through the helmet. Look for details on it with preliminary photos by tomorrow evening pacific time.

- Space Jockey. :D

Nice! Eager to see.

For those of you who were too lazy to click the link a few pages back in this thread, here's a sample of my custom work. :naughty

I actually did check out your site, very impressive stuff. Love that Bishop and the Troll.

Hey Space Jockey, glad to hear you're finishing the head sculpt. I'm doing mine a bit different I think; I'm going to use the original head covering that comes with Kane, but I'm going to grind out the face and sculpt a new one to fit in its place. Then I'll take a mold of the whole thing as one piece, and cast that.

Thanks Wor-Gar, glad you liked my Bishop & troll!

And by the way-- Has anyone else noticed something strange about Kane in the film?... When the face-hugger attacks, we next see Kane inside the ship; Ash cuts the helmet off, and we see the aliens fingers wrapped around his head; QUESTION: What happened to the head covering gear???.. When they cut the helmet open, the head covering wasn't there... OOPS!

Awesome, glad to hear you're taking that approach with the Kane sculpt. That was my initial plan also, but loose Kane headsculpts on ebay were fetching quite high amounts, and it'll be a couple of weeks before I receive my Kane figure. I just used the Dallas sculpt for reference. Look forward to seeing how it turns out. :duff

Yeah, the dissappearing headcover has been mentioned before; I just assumed that the facehugger somehow managed to get it's fingers under it. There's also one or two behind the scenes shots of John Hurt on set minus the helmet but with the headcover on, and the chinstrap is left undone. Maybe that's how it fell off and Ash & Dallas retrieved it when cutting off the rest of Kane's suit in the infirmary. Either that or it was just a plain error.

I am such a perfectionist when it comes to face portraits, I'll be taking my time with the head- but yes, after it's done I will sell them if there's enough interest, and the boots as well.

At least that will help pay for the silicone rubber, casting plastic, pigments etc. The silicone I'm using ain't cheap, it's $100 per gallon.
I know a gallon sounds like a lot of material, but because the molds DO wear out and distort with use, I plan on making multiple molds for each seperate boot and head.
(I have purchased custom-made castings which obviously came from molds which had long since worn out, with muted detail and distorted dimensions; I will NOT be selling castings like that.)

I might even use one of the first head castings as a starter, and alter the facial expression on Kane's face and make molds from that too; Maybe I'll do one with the mouth closed and one with it open a little, like he's breathing through the mouth. Then people will have a choice which one they prefer.

Same here really; I will be offering it for sale but only if the demand is there. This is actually my first 1:6 scale sculpt. Who knows, I'll probably end up buying one of Anthrapoids when he's finished it! The important thing is that there will be headsculpts available; anything to get rid of that terrible Freddy Mercury sculpt! :lol
