Got mind preordered...I think he'll be a nice military addition.

I love it, people complain about the figure and go on about how the likeness isn't there for them but will stay up to order it.

Did a mod to a photo and I think there's good potential there.

That looks awesome! Definitely a good sculpt, which was not my initial reaction. With a little paint around the eyes, it brings the likeness out even more!

With that photo, even unaltered, I really think this will look like him photographed under lighting that defines the forms of the face better.

No offense Sean, but those dark circles under his eyes make him look dead/sick. I know he had some deeper set eyes, but that looks a bit too much/dark. But I too think the sculpt will be OK. I'd really like to see a 360 or BSP.

Now that I am looking at an actual pic of Piett, I guess the scuplt/paint isn't that bad. Not nearly as bad as I was initiatlly thinking when I first saw the teaser pic. Guess I need to go back and re-watch the OT to refresh my memory. Damn, it sucks to get old. Here's a pic for reference.

Dang. I really wanted to like this one but I just don't. :( The likeness looks better but not great in the new photos.

The fact that the proportions look off, as some have mentioned is what's keeping me from ordering. I just don't understand why SS struggles in this area so much while other companies don't seem to have little to no problems.:banghead

The biggest issue is the lighting on the Imperial sets really highlighted facial forms and the SSC photo lighting does not, the eyes should be sunken, the whole face/cheekbone area could be more defined. If we had a picture of Piett lit the same way as the figure resemblance might stand out more, but we're used to seeing the character one way and haven't seen the figure in a similar way.

I think you're right MaulFan. I think that the hat placement and lighting has a lot to do with it.

So anyone, I'm just curious, what's the new "simple" ordering process that Sideshow does? I got used to Exclusive PPO's and then came the Domestic Exclusive thing... now it seems Sideshow has returned to olden times with some figures just put out there for straight order. Piett's NOT a Dom Ex right?

Are you sure about that? With a sculpt like that, they might as well change the name tag on the box to "Imperial Officer Smith", and you'll never know it was suppose to be "Piett".

Well, now that you mention that it's Officer Smith than I better order it now.

seriously though, I like this figure but spending $70+ through SS right now doesn't seem like a smart financial move (for me). Since he's not an exclusive and they are offering a limit of 2. Which either means they made a substantial amount or, like many, don't feel he'll be a good seller. I feel real good about finding him later for a much lower price.

This is unprecedented in Star Wars 1/6. I can't think of a Sideshow figure that wasn't a PPO or a Dom. Ex., this was neither.

That's what I was wondering. Aayla and Mundi were Dom Exs. Seems like a lot of SS stuff goes this way lately, but this is a first for SW.
