This is unprecedented in Star Wars 1/6. I can't think of a Sideshow figure that wasn't a PPO or a Dom. Ex., this was neither.

Captain Antilles?? RFT??

Thought those were Dom. Ex., apparently this is the new way for some of the second and third tier characters.

Yeah, I really don't think there's the steam in this line anymore to justify a PPO, I tend to think a PPO is used to build excitement rather than out of necessity. The last few PPOs have blazed by, so I think they've got their servers up to snuff ;)

I don't think you're going to see many more domestic exclusives, because Sideshow is going to need retailers to order from them as well to justify production on a lot of these figures.

I'm still interest in production numbers, costs, etc but it's still a bit shocking to think that Sideshow couldn't move forward on Gimli, but can still go ahead on a Rebel Fleet Trooper. You've got multiple third tier characters in Star Wars who can push 1000 units, but Gimli couldn't move that many. What a crazy world.

Have to say I'm surprised he's not more being on a Prometheus... I think I may pick him up now, but at a retailer to save a few bucks.

Are you kidding me? Who the hell is this, whiy is his shirt on backwards, and why did he need his own figure? :lol:lol:lol

Oh come now Scott, this is Admiral Piett from ESB and ROTJ. He is the Imperial who wasn't choked out by Vader and he found the Falcon in the asteroid field in Empire...and lost it too on Bespin. Sort of. I for one am excited to see more Imperials since my shelf was getting a little brown from cloaks. You gotta be a pretty big SW dork to know who he is*. :monkey1

*not really.

Also did SSC repaint the eyes or was that the lighting? Either way he looks better and will look awesome in person.

You can't blame that one on him. He did his job, it was that blasted R2-D2 that foiled the Imperials' plan. Piett was the only Imperial who wasn't a complete dunderhead, besides maybe Veers. Tagge was pretty cool too.

:lecture

I would have liked to have seen a pic of him without the hat. I think that would have definitely helped, even though technically we never see him in the films without it.

I had hopes that this figure would turn out better than the preview, but it didn't. I wanted this character more than Tarkin, but if I ordered him, I still wouldn't have a figure of Piett. Praji was a much more accurate likeness. Here's hoping Peter Cushing fares better.

And the Prometheus is way too small. You can tell by how the Buck tailored clothes don't fit.

I just ordered Piett.
I'm going to pass on the $109 Sandtrooper on Friday though, to save up for the 3 Predator figures due out.
:chew

I can't wait for Tarkin. I just watched "The Beast Must Die," with Peter Cushing on AMC the other morning. HAHA. An ANH Tarkin is such a must, I hope he comes this year.

Yep, and Tarkin could boss around Vader... Peitt didn't have that going for him.
