Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

I'm hoping the show eventually does something to make a "Game of Thrones" or "Walking Dead"-like impact. The kind of thing that makes everyone say "You HAVE to watch this show". Unfortunately, Agents of SHIELD doesn't have that.

Ask yourself this: "If it wasn't for the MARVEL UNIVERSE connection, would you watch this show?"

I find myself only catching up on it onDemand and have no desire to sit and watch the episodes when they're on. I'm more excited that "Eastbound & Down" is back on than this.

I think ever since Marvel has focused on movies, the secondary TV/Animated industry has suffered. Nothing completely wrong with that because the movies are awesome, but I do miss some of the good cartoon series they had (Wolvie & the X-Men, Spectacular Spidey, etc.) and it appears their live-action TV series might be seeing the same lack of attention and care.

Great question :goodpost:

Definitely nope, I only watch it in the hope it gets better in any aspect and to not miss anything that may happen and may have a connection with the next movies, which now that I think about it, it's a drag :thud:

That really doesn't make any sense. The whole appeal of the show is that you're following Coulson and SHIELD. Would you watch CSI: Crime Scene Investigations if it wasn't about Crime Scene Investigations? :cuckoo: :lol

Same reason I didn't like MoS. It wasn't about Superman. It was about an indestructible dude with the same powers as Superman and same costume, but wasn't Superman. He was Hopeman. :huh :lol

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

How are MOS and Agents of Shield even in the same convo? :lol

I keep watching Agents of Shield. I know it has a strong appeal to the family audience, and that is hte problem. We all want intense plot lines, but ABC just will never have it with all the kiddies watching. Our only hope is that the show starts to get legs of its own and take some chances.

For me the shows only cheesiness comes from the music. It is so over the top

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

No, that's not at all what it's like. If they didn't have Coulson and Shield in the movies and this show was just trying to play off them as a stand alone like X-Files, he's correct in that it would be complete trash. Which it is anyway.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Yup...Thanks guys, that's exactly what I mean.

If it was this "X-Files meets Superheroes" TV show WITHOUT the whole Marvel/SHIELD movie background and history. Would you still be watching it?

Which is in and of itself a dumb statement. "Hey guys, if the X-Men didn't have the X-Men, would you watch it?" :lol

The whole premise of the show is to cover Coulson and SHIELD in between the movies. That's what it was advertised as, that's what it does. And in that context, it works.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

You still don't get it. :lol

He's asking a question of quality. Shield existed before they were in movies just like the X-Men did. In fact the X-Men had a very popular cartoon show on well before movies.

You're basically proving his point in saying the only reason people watch this is Coulson has a role in the movies and theres a lingering tiny possiblity somehow this show will tie into them.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Mhmmm now that you mentioned it, if SHIELD didn't have that awful supporting cast I'd definitely watch it happier :lol:lol

Now, another one, if SHIELD wasn't tied down to the movie universe, Would you watch it? Hell no. :exactly:

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

I didn't watch Torchwood or Sarah Jane Chronicals or K-9 or any other Doctor Who spin-offs. I consider myself a Who fan, but it's not enough just to have the show in the same universe.

Agents of SHIELD is a new show with an accomplished team developing it. It does interest me that it's a Marvel project, it's also that I liked Firefly and Joss Whedon is involved. I see a lot of Firefly's humor.

Agreed with Deckard twice today. Worlds exploding tomorrow, bet on it. :lol
