Actually, if they ever made a Rebecca Jorden, Newt, then a half Bishop would be a great accessory for her, as little Casey's head is not really enough. Then it warrants making her as they were the two at the endgame with the Queen. Gotta load the deck bros!

Full Bishop with a tray and Facehugger autopsy, plus laptop and torch, would be tops.

Gorman is ok. So is Frost. I think Ferro is the best choice for a new addition of the Marines if so. Ferro, Gorman, then Frost.

I still say Carter Burke needs to be there too. Sometime. HE is the villain of the movie, not the Aliens.

As for a Warrior, yeah, egg and Facehugger maybe.
Actually, the Warrior don't need squat. Just give me a Warrior. :D

It's here! It's here!

My HotToys alien warrior has finally arrived and I'm one happy fan!
What can I say? Amazing figure! It really is a thing of beauty: the engeneering behind it, the ingenuity in the design solutions, the choice of materials used, the care put into the manufacture... this is really a high end collectible. Don't let the lack of costumes or accesories fool you, this is a very high end collectible.

There's not much else to be said that hasn't been said before.
I was surprised at how large it actually is. Standing fully upright it just towers over other figures. I never envisioned aliens in general to be sooo big, I guess I still keep in mind Bolaji Badejo's frame and height from the first movie, so to me this figure is a mite too big actually, but nothing that I'll lose any sleep over.
The comparison with McF's figure is quite striking in that regard, and it actually made me pin-point what is wrong with McF's design of the creature: it seems to me that they simply shrunk the whole upper body! If you compare the length of the legs of both figures, they're not that different in size, but McF's whole upper body looks tiny in comparison to HotToys'.
I always suspected that McF had made the size smaller to avoid making the figure too top heavy and thus unstable. HotToy's figure is very top heavy, and it is quite difficult to find a pose where it keeps its balance without the tail being used as anchor. When they do the Aliens' warrior they'll have the advantae of the funky looking big feet (just like they do with these AvP warriors), but once they decide to tackle Giger's original design they'll have to come up with a solution to help make the figure more stable with stronger ankle joints (the ones in mine are pretty loose), or find a way to make the upper body and head lighter.
Whatever, HotToys has cracked the code and found the way to make awesome alien figures for us! I can imagine that this type of construction/design will be used in any and all future alien figures, it's so just that perfect a solution.
I do wish they had given the elbow and knee joints more articulation, as they are, they can barely bend at 90º, which is a bit frustrating. Of course the awesome level of movement of the torso and neck quite make up for it, and the hips and shoulders are more than addecuate!
I'm sorry I don't have any pics right now (camera's batteries are dead), but I'll make sure to take some over the weekend and post them next week.
This is truly one beautiful figure, it just begs to be played with and I'm already drooling in anticipation waiting to see the (IMHO) superior Giger and Winston designs get the same type of treatment this figure got.
If anybody is still wondering wether they should get one, stop wondering and go order one now.

Hi praise abake, high praise from such an Alien afficianado! Thanks for the review bro! But I'm STILL holding out for MY "ALIENS" bug. :D

I've got the kids over for the weekend, so picture taking will have to wait...
Sorry guys!
But I promise you'll see pics soon, this figure can do some really cool poses!

Good for you Abake, good for you! Bravo!

I know how you feel bro! This is one wicked figure!

To help with his standing, try posing him with his tail curled down some so it can be a tripodal third leg back behind him, you can twist it around back up to de-emphasize this use just fine, and that will not only stabilize your figure, it will allow you to put it into some wicked twisted crouches that makes it look much more like the movie version.
Think of in the movie AVP, where the aliens, including Grid, skulked up to the chained queen, where they kind of moved crouched....
This works great, looks AVP accurate, and helps your figure stand out from any other Aliens.
Just a posing suggestion, but it will help with your loose ankles.

Have fun! I have. This thing's amazing!

Alright guys, here's the pics!

First off, the classic stooping pose! How any times have we alien fans wished we could pose a figure like this?
Now all we need is the classic Giger design made with this level of detail and poseability (well, actually, some more poseability would be possible without hurting the sculpt, but more on that later).

Next, a side by side with McF's worthy figure:

Yes, I actually think it is a worthy figure! It looks a bit small, but then again, the HT is a bit too big, and it cost only 25 bucks! It's got awesome detail and some pretty interesting, if misplaced, articulation.

Next, another shot of the HT beast! Aaaahhh, it is a wonder to behold.

Here we see HT's Hicks being stalked (repainted HS by a friend, not that you can tell from the pic)

I'll upload a few more pics shortly, so stand by for some Alien on Pred action!

Thanks WG, here's the rest.

Thanks abake,

Clearly a masterpiece in engineering, I can only imagine what's next!

Speaking of this alien, I wanted to show what I did to mine a week or so ago...
He is moderately repainted. I say moderately, because although I do like the paint it came with, I had gotten the ADI book on the effects of AVP and spent some time looking at the aliens. I decided to experiment and try some minor drybrushing of acrylics on him to add a slightly more metallic effect, like what was used on the ones in AVP.
Used some steel and/or gold mixed with black, did some drybrush passes, and also some gloss black in some of the crevices and spots.

Hope it better resembles the movie one.

Nice shots. They really show off the figures. I like the hot Alien on Alien action.

Damn, those are some really great pix abake!!!

And I like what you did with yours Les!

Not surprisingly, you really improved the look of the figure... his coloring makes much more sense than what the stock figure came with. And it actually makes him seem a bit more agressive!
