All this talk of rubber is reminding me of Danny Glover and his daughter's condom commercial in Lethal Weapon 2 (1989):

"Just you wait; rubbers on my desk, rubbers in the mail. Rubbers, rubbers, rubbers. You only couldn't keep your mouth shut."

You guys should e-mail Cinemaquette about this problem.
I believe, they have some type of powder they use on their silicone rubber statues.
It's said to keep new for decades.
Maybe, it could work the same for the HT rubber figures.

I wonder why HT used rubber for the Nostromians in the first place. Was a fabric space suit to expensive, not convincing, or not sturdy enough? I don't like the rubber space suit.
Just like the dome on the ED209. Why rubber? A metal grid in stead would have been great. As for the Aliens... not much choise there, except to use the ultimate rubber compound...

Just look at one of the suits. Mass producing those suits in fabric would have either required a vast simplification of the design, or raising the price exponentially.

Me, I'd rather have the rubber. The details are crisp and for the most part spot-on, and it didn't cost more than a trip for four to DisneyWorld...

If everybody is 'THAT CONCERNED'

Buy some of this...

'Silicon/Rubber Dull Coat Sealer'

It's in the form of a can...

I spray a light mist on ED-209, and my Predator Dreads once a year... (All of my collection is behind sealed glass)

GREAT STUFF... Never had any problems with it... ED-209 is as perfect as the first day I assembled him...

all this F'n crying over rubber on 12" figures :slap what are the actual issues that have happened? and don't bring up the ED-209, or the Alien. I mean really....:monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2 people are acting like these things are going to crumble into little pieces within a year. :lol
but I do wonder about my Wolf bust.

You say that now, tough guy so I hope yours is the first to crumble and then we'll hear who's whining! :rotfl:banghead :D

And can't we expect a $150 collectible toy figure to last several more decades?

Exactemundo. I'll be miffed if they degrade within my lifetime. A collector should never outlive his collectibles.

Don't you mean 'A collector should always outlive his collection'?

No. I want my collection to outlive me. I don't want to see it fade and die before I do. I want it pristine like new. After I'm gone I won't be in a position to care but until then....

My ED's dome is so friggin' rotten now that there's no saving it. This thing is really horrible. The only way to fix it would be to find a suitable replacement material, or recast that part off of a good one.
