I disagree completely with their negative points there..
auto-saves only add to the tension of playing the game, and not using save terminals is just stupid
I never had an AI be unresponsive..... NEVER (PC)
granted there is lots of walking or in my case crouching and moving slowly but I never considered it a chore
I wasn't a fan of the save stations early on, but I can attest the need to find one and manually save absolutely ratchets up the tension. The fear factor wouldn't be nearly as affective if being eaten by the alien just meant starting back 3 steps from where you were, I think.
It got to a point in the game where making it to a save station and using it without being caught felt like a victory. Not being able to use one that was right in front of me because doing so would have been instant death was torturous and I loved every minute of it!
Been playing this game since I got it and I gotta say this game is freakin awesome!!
Favorite part...
The flashback scene where you check out the Derilict ship and you see the Space Jockey! I walked around for hours enjoying the view. It felt like I was in the movie! Pretty accurate to the source material. I couldn't believe it when you had to decend down into the egg chamber. I was like "no F'n way, this game is so AWESOME!!!"
My game setup is in my bedroom along with most of my Alien statues and I can't help but to turn and look at my Big Chap maquette after I get killed a bazillion times in the game. It's like he's laughing at you.
The only minor gripes I have with the game is the new leg design of the Alien, the growling sounds he makes and the fact that you can't customize you button layout. I found myself fumbling with the controls in frantic situations. My guess is that was the developer's intent to make it cumbersome and harder to craft, heal, change items, etc. Which adds to the panic attack you get when exploring new areas.
9/10 for me. Never a dull moment in Alien: Isolation. So intense! Just like an Alien game should be. Love it. Gonna try out the DLC soon after I finish up the final missions. Damn, those Industrial Working Joes are so freakin tough!

Just so I'm being fair to that TV show, I didn't have a stream of it in front of me to refer to while I made my post - I was going from memory as to what the guy said. Now that someone earlier mentioned it too, they did point out that there were multiple save stations or whatever as you progress through. As far as the A.I thing, they did show an example of the player opening a door, & the ALIEN strolling right past them, so..
I agree with y'all though, the labour intensive, manual aspects of the game, would all add to the tension.
Anyway, I haven't even played it yet - time to source a copy!!!
Has anyone, after playing this game, became more mindful of any kind of noise in their environment? Like, I'm in the office right now, I'm like keeping track of every noise that sounds off.
Yup, me too. But you can do a "mission" load at the start of a level so it's not that bad. I don't know how that works with the stuff you crafted though.
Just be careful doing the mission load, it will write over the "current" & "continue" save points if you're further along in the game on a higher mission.

Do you have a physical copy of the game or are you downloading it?
EDIT: PS Store says it requires 8.72GB of hard drive space for install. I recommend picking up a physical copy since you only have 12GB of HD space currently.
