Still on the fence about this one. I have had my order paid off at gamestop so I dont know if I can switch the money over to something else this close to release date.

Watching the recent multiplayer vid posted on AvPGalaxy, it looks enjoyable. Not Collector's Edition enjoyable though.

I like how the music from Aliens is used in the matches.

Well damn. I had high hopes for this game. I'll play it eventually but I guess I'll probably wait. I may pick it up for full price as I do love the franchise and I'm sure that will be enough to look past the flaws but I'm not sure right now.

But what are we supposed to do? Just blindly buy a game and hope it's good? $60 is a lot to take a gamble on. I don't believe reviewing sites but word of mouth from actual gamers is something I have to listen to.

Forget what people are saying and watch the actual gameplay, just mute it and watch. The aliens are stupid, they have a real hard time moving throughout the environment without becoming stuck. Your teammates are scripted and no help. The AI doesn't think or react quickly or at all. Theres little story, its 5 hours of run and gun with no real choices. I'd have rather had just Multiplayer for $20-30 then this sort of a SP experiance that's going to maybe hold up once.

There is a chance I'll love something many others don't. But in general, I don't have the money or time to waste with stuff that isn't very good. So, for movies and video games, I use reviews as a means to filter out stuff that isn't worth my full attention. On the aggregate, if reviewers really like something, chances are I will, and if they think something is kind of crummy, chances are I will, though of course there is variation there. I still figure I'll get this game, but I'll wait until it is $20 or so.

It will be worth getting for Aliens nostalgia, but not at full price.

They never dropped the nuke they wanted to, the reactor instead went thermonuclear. They try to explain it saying it exploded upward rather than outward. Meh.

The bigger problem is they changed major things

but then don't fully explain it, and it's not looking like there will be a sequel so it's pointless.

At least you can install some mods in it, but even so what a friggin bust this POS is.

There are tons of games that retail for under $30. Just not the big budget games you prefer.

There's never a good excuse to pirate games if you ask me. If you insist on playing it cheap, just wait for a huge discount which is inevitable.
