No nash, not at all. There were no reasons given and I am not assuming anything so you all know what I know which is what I posted. He's out, that's all... and it is probably better for all of us to keep our cards closer to the vest.

There have been a number of garage kit projects done over at OSW and other sites without a hitch, I don't see why this one is any different so, like I said, I don't get it.

So... we lost one quote from a good caster, we have three months to come up with another. As far as future casters they must be approved by AP. When one is selected anyone can PM me for details when announced.

Works for me! Good luck.

Wow...I'm really sad to hear that Chris is out of the project now?! I love his work, and I've got some great pieces from him for my HT marines. Such as: Hicks's clasp and padlock for over the heart on his armor, some of the great Gerber knives, Hudson's "winged skull" bolo tie clip, belt tools, a set of those great fabric USCM uniform patches, and hopefully a "leather-like" sheath for Hicks's shotgun on the way someday soon.

I only really know of one other caster out there. Chris is one of the first ones I've met. Honestly I only know of one other caster. Her name is Mary Lacour. She was the first customizer I ever met. She is incredibly talented too! She lives a few hours away from me in Lafayette, LA. She is under the eBay user ID: mpl59. She may be open to doing this project pjam. Check out her positive feedback on eBay, and contact her. I know her, and have met her in person. She is a great lady, with loads of talent. She's done some fabulous Indiana Jones customs even designing a set of Indy's furniture from his classroom at Marshall College! She's definitely worth a try! I can personally e-mail her too if you like. We're on great terms, and consider each other a friend. Let me know if you want to give her a shot at this after you've seen her feedback on eBay. She designed most of my custom 12" Indy's outfit and hand-made it all, along with his relics like the golden idol, sandbag, three Sankara stones, and the holy grail cup! I just wanted to throw her name into the "hat" so to speak! She may have already heard of Angie Portman. She did a great recasting of the HT Ripley head for me, and I got my custom Indy head, a Rambo head, and a Jango Fett head from her too. All were nicely, and cleanly cast in white resin. Give her a shot at it! :D

As I said I'm sure he had very good resaons. He did advise ME that we keep this project as discreet as possible but I don't know if that would make any difference at this point because nothing has been done, no contracts signed, no money changed hands, no kits produced or even designed.

In any event details of this project as it relates to any individuals involved will be kept strictly confidential from this point on.

"Well, there goes our salvage, guys."

A very unfortunate and unexpected blow, but hopefully not an insurmountable one. What a bummer, tho! :monkey2

Hey Mike, I tried to PM you but your inbox is full. Do you have any pics of the winged skull" bolo tie clip you got from Chris. I have been looking for this piece and I didnt know Chris sells casts of these. Are they still available to buy form Chris?

I have made one myself from some plastic filed into shape but it looks ugly uip close lol

Was getting really excited till I read the post on Chris bowing out. Oh well... Hope Angie stays on board. Great work so far pjam. I really appreciate the time your putting into this thing for all of us. I know you'll find a way to make it happen.

Thanks Guys...

As mentioned earlier: Only the utmost discretion will be used from this point on. The project is still a go.

Anyone who has a caster in mind, go ahead and contact them privately and if they are interested in providing a quote, PM me.

EDIT: I have requested this thread become accessible only to those on the headcount list.

Oh, will it have or need any moving parts? Springs? Details like that?
Will it be designed to pivot at all? Seems like a tough thing to pull off with a resin kit like this, but possible...

The gun head will be able to pan and swivel although the basic kit will not be mechanized, just poseable...

Hi pjam. I'll contact Mary Lacour soon and see what she says about becoming the caster for this project. I'll PM you once I hear back from her with a quote, if she's interested in doing it.

Okay Gang, glad to see you could make it aboard the Sulaco...

Updates: I am contacting other casters. Our Kit designer Angie Portman is still on board and that is most important. I will definitely let you know if and when we get a new caster and provide new kit quotes.

Why the Secrecy? After the coronary of the sudden drop out by our Caster after advising me "Loose Lips sink ships" I felt keeping this project public and its development broadcast openly was running further risk of it falling apart. It has also been strongly advised by Professionals in the field that we keep this project as discreet as possible and it is impossible to control that in a Public Forum. This ain't the only secret Commission thread on the SSF board guys, what does that tell ya? Better safe than sorry...

Anyway, onward we go...

ps: anyone know this guy 8 Immortal Master? I don't and if I don't know someone the rules were they must agree to the terms in advance... If anyone can vouge for him LMK.

And I want to thank DarklordDave for going through the time and trouble to do this. It's a lot of work, guys, so thanks Dave, you Rock!.

This was an excellent idea. Do you have the guy's real name? I might or might not know him.

No, he's a newbie, seems ok, posted before. I'll PM him and take care of things from here.

Pjam, I was going to e-mail the caster I know, Mary Lacour about the sentry gun project later tonight. Is that okay? I hope so. She does great work! I cannot promise if she will go for the job, but it's worth a try to at least ask her about it. I like that Rush Hour 3 picture Darkarstist! I saw the preview for the moive the other day when I saw Live Free Or Die Hard (which is great by the way!), and it looks like fun. I'll go and see it. I enjoyed the first two Rush Hour movies. Anyways, post here pjam if you don't want me to contact Mary. But I thought I recalled you saying it was okay. I just want to be sure. I will keep my lips sealed about this project to any other ears. No one other than myself around here enjoys collecting and customziing like I do anyway. :D

Mike, let her know it is a custom kit comprised of over 25 parts in master molds, this is for highly experienced model kit casters only. :D

And in the future, again please follow my previous request:
