Moreover, your collection looks great! :monkey5
All Hail Hot Toys! :emperor

My mistake....sorry. Great work on your custom headset STENDEC. I'd like to make one for my Hicks and custom Bishop. Can you tell us how you made it? I know you've said what you used to make it already. Thanks! :D

Il do my best to explain how I have built mine so far.

First thing I did was make a template by tracing a photo of a screen used headset and scale it to the correct size. The attached pic should print out at a width of 1.5 cm.

Its a fun project but fiddly coz of the small size. A Dremel is very handy for this project.

As for building the thing itself, the best pic I have to explain the method is this one

For the microphone wire I cut and bent a paperclip into shape, you'l have to experiment on lenth and curve. I made a tight bend on both ends to help form the microphone and allow the wire to attach securely to the rectangle body.

Did the same for the short lenght of wire which connects earpiece to main body. Earpice itself was cut from a piece of plastic using a paper hole punch, then sanded down to make the diameter smaller.

The wire that leads from the rectangle and under the torso armor was just pulled from a shoulder lamp.

Then I cut two rectangle pieces to form the main body. Then the other pieces are arranged and sandhwiched between the two rectangles with superglue. The edges were filled in with modelling putty.

Details like the mic tip etc were done using modelling putty, applied quite loosely then sanded down into shape.

Thats where I'm at so far.

Here Paul, my little contribution to the 1000th post celebration.

I'll convert it to wallpapers soon.

Paul's ALIEN is due!

Oh God! Lock up your figures! Hide the crockery! Things are about to get WILD! :D

Good luck to any of you guys getting them soon. Hope you "enjoy" your figures!
(And hope they all have all fingers and toes! And no broken or cracked joints!)

Ya, I wish you the best of luck today too Paul, I hope your warrior experience is a good one, as someone who equally anticipated this figure, I can only hope your wait is made worthwhile.

Yeah, Reiny and GB, let's see some arrival pics from you guys too!
(It's just such a given with Paul. :lol )
Wishing you all the best.

Isn't it fun! The Antici..........pation! :D

Yeah, Paul, document this! From arrival and opening to display! Let's see the saga that is the Pjam Figure-Jam! :chew

UPS usually delivers later in the afternoon, Unless I run out to Hollywood Blvd and literally spot the truck and run it down, which I've done. :lol But, most likely, will spend today working it up, don't know about doing all that just arrived stuff we've seen all those pics, in box, in tray, etc so I will try to focus on setting up some stuff we haven't seen, still haven't figured that out.

BTW Les, I think I will want mine "Lesterized" to resemble the SL3 Puppet we first saw hanging above then attacking the crew vs the dude in the suit variety as this guy will "mostly" be used for Marines V Warrior SL3 grid floor action. :D

Maybe someone (Dekdave, Batty?) can do something I always wanted done here but I don't have screen grab software, and what is that you ask?

Well the Actual ALIENS grand dad film, the orginal Bug Hunt Movie called "THEM!", in it you will find the original Newt, original Ripley, plenty of elements retooled for that film, Military Soldiers using flamethrowers in Queen Egg chambers, translucent eggs, etc.

Is this to say that the story of Aliens is a ripoff of sorts?

No, unlike ALIEN which was a clear rip off this is not. All I'm saying is there are several elements to ALIENS which were taken from this film, the story is not a rip off by any means.

Ahh, okay, cuz I saw your postings in the ALIEN thread so I was starting to fear a beloved series of films was built on lies. Phew, now I can go back to just knowing Barry Bonds' story is built on lies :)

i still haven't seen THEM. need to see it. i mean, who doesn't want to see a movie with giant attacking Ants??

It's a surprisingly well done film for its time. Also surprising that so few remember it. It really should be a classic.

Just the sheer size of the giant ant marionettes that were used and operated is astounding when you watch these bad boys coming.

Indeed, since we're on topic here, I thought I'd try to delineate some of the elements from this film used in Aliens.

Original Newt. A little girl Muted by terror, giant bugs killed her family. Hid inside a storage compartment/cubby hole in her family trailer. Had a doll with her = Casey. She was first to tip off there were giant bugs (when shaken from her trauma with formic acid.) She was clearly the original Newt.

The Female Scientist, Not really the original Ripley but she was tall, brunette and fearlessly led the Military inside the Ant colony, had weaponry and a jumpsuit too. One woman amongst a group of men.

The Nest or Queen's Egg Chamber: There were two scenes with Queen's Egg chambers, in the first New Mexico chamber we saw translucent eggs and in both worker Ants or drones protected the Queen.

Troops: Combat troops went into the colony and used flamethrowers to destroy the beasts and the eggs.

Corridors/Vents = LA River system. In the third act the ants used the L.A. water system as their colony and crawled inside corridors. the final battle scene found the Queen's nest inside one of them.

I'm sure there are plenty more reference but I just can't think of them now. :D

Oh, one more very cool scene where (what's his name) was attacked by a giant Ant in the end and screamed a guttoral yell and looked and sounded a hell of alot like Robert Shaw in Jaws as giant mandibles began to crush him.
