It's funny how the 3rd party companies respond to Takara. Back in the day, the old MP figures were like nothing else we had seen, and they really were a game changer. Then the classics type figures came along, and did more of the same, albeit with a lesser level of sophistication and adherence to the source. Then, the 3rd party companies come along, trying to piggyback on the success Takara/Hasbro had at capitalizing on collector nostalgia. Eventually, they started pumping out products that were more interesting or just better than what Hastak were doing. Takara changed the game again with MP-10 and MP-11, and left most of the 3rd party guys in the dust. But now, the 3rd party guys are starting to really respond in kind. I don't know if I would say that they are beating Takara in my mind, but certainly putting out products that rival what is officially coming out, and nicely complements them. It's a good time to be a Transformers collector. I wonder if we'll have another sea change at some point down the road, where the current batch of MP figures look quaint by comparison. Seems unlikely, but I wouldn't write off the possibility that these guys will keep pushing it until we see another level of quality, adherence to the source, and sophistication.
