Seems a risky move for a new company as the chances of Takara making those characters are higher than most but they look decent enough.

Now they look pretty nice but as you said the chances that Takara will be coming out with their own are really high at the moment so I'll be happy to wait & see if those rumours turn out to be true before jumping on these.

In other news Kapow Toys have put the pre-orders up for Badcubes own versions of the Insecticons at £130 for the whole set which isn't bad value IMO

I also prefer FT's Insecticons but I'm still tempted to get the Badcube ones as well as they could represent the Insecticon swarm.

I can't believe how excited I got for Beachcomber when I saw that pic. I really hope they nail the colors. It looks like they're using the "prowl-like" exhaust tab to help him stand.

Takara-Tomy's Bomshell and Shrapnell are pretty great for $16/piece. Of course they're one Insecticon short...

Why hasn't anyone, 3rd party or otherwise, done them with transparent yellow plastic and chrome bits ala G1?

They're not worth the $20 plus shipping I'd have to pay and wouldn't fit in with my other Decepticons.

The Fans Toys Insecticons will have chrome and the option to switch between transparent yellow plastic or the flat yellow like on the Badcube ones.

Badcube are doing toy and cartoon versions.

I like the overload, personally, but perhaps not for the reason people might think. For me, it actually makes passing on some of these a lot easier.

Sure, this thing is the "best Jazz we've ever seen", but even if Takara doesn't make their own (which I doubt), so what? Someone else will make one. And maybe this won't have that ugly "Master Jazz" BS written on it.

Besides, the ONLY third party companies that have proven themselves capable of making high quality, well engineered figures consistently are BadCube and FansToys. When it comes to Jazz, Sunstreaker (I HATE that tiny head on the latest image of Spinout!) and yes, even Megatron, I'm more than happy to wait for either of those companies (or Takara themselves) to try their hand at those characters... Unless reviews indicate that their quality is on par, that is. If that's the case, I might give 'em a shot.

On their Facebook page Badcube have confirmed Huffer 2.0 will get retooled into Pipes.

With all the other MP scale Minibots that have either been released or hinted at by Badcube and XTransbots that only leaves the following.

Cliffjumper/Hubcap
Gears/Swerve
Seaspray

With XTB's attempts at improving their build quality I wonder whether they might do another run of their Wheelie as well because the overall look was great, the problem seemed to be the tolerances on various parts.

Maybe a tad, it's difficult to tell from that angle. The cartoon head looks better proportioned so if that's still part of the package there'll be the option to use that one instead.

I think the bigger issue is that the intakes now appear to sit higher behind the head than in the earlier shots we saw,

I actually think the new version shown there looks much better than the earlier proto that roof & windshield canopy now looks much better proportioned.

Agree the intakes are a little high but I could live with that.

At this stage I think I'll wait and see if somebody else has a go at Sunstreaker, the character is the only other carbot I've any intrest in but I want one that's the same kind of standard as the Hasui cars.

Spinout does a lot of things right but fails on several of the smaller details and a couple of major ones ie the side windows on the car mode and the decision not to use any chrome on the engine and spoiler.

Guys, that headsculpt looks REALLY tiny now. I was borderline when I found out this untested company was going to be partnered with KFC's factory; now, I think I'm out.

Unless Takara stops doing MP cars abruptly, I don't think we need to worry about official versions of MP Sunstreaker, Jazz, Mirage, Hound or Trailbreaker. Even Skids, to be quite honest!

Personally, I don't think we need to even consider XTB's offerings. Minibots seems to be BadCube's "thing", and they're doing a bang-up job on it.

I will admit that XTransbots really nailed the look on Wheelie (and Megatron, for that matter), but I'd rather have the quality AND looks. And unless BadCube drastically changes direction I wouldn't be surprised if they end up doing all the Minibots except Bumblebee.

My Apollyon was fine and so were plenty of others. An MP level Megatron will always be a pain in the butt for manufacturers due to the high parts count, I'll see how XTB do with Beachcomber and Scourge before writing them off completely.

I'm sure Takara will carry on knocking out carbots, but blue Bluestreak is the last one I'm buying.
