Wow impressive, never knew that, he's how much again?

Could be the closest we'll get & a worthy addition

Kapow have said it'll be £130-£140.

So the other import stores will be £30 or so more.

If there is any legit UK stock for TRU it'll be scalped within days and put on ebay for £200 plus.

It's also not MP scale. If it was each Constructicon would be almost MP Seeker height in robot mode which would make Devastator somewhat taller.

Looking at this pic, where you can see Hook stand next to Smokescreen:

The Constructicons are maybe not quite Seeker height, but it only like a head or so in difference, so it's not quite as drastic. These are pretty damn big voyagers (which incidentally also makes them look more like oversized KOs...). Better pics would definitely help estimating the size though.

Be that as it may, they look still look far too cheap and nasty to be displayed with genuine MP's or the better 3rd party efforts. In that respect they're barely better than the G1 toy which was fine in the 80's but is a bit pathetic now.

Paying a minimum of £130 for something that looks so dated makes no kind of sense to me. I paid £10 less than that for the threezero 1:6 scale Ned Stark and the quality is comparable with Hot Toys, it doesn't look like a Mego :lol

With MMC having recently shown a render for what appeared to be an MP Hotspot it looks as if 3rd parties are already gearing up for their next Combiner War so I don't think it'll be long before the first proper MP Constructicons show up.

Once that happens every group will be falling over themselves to try and one up each other and we'll have the merits of about 5 different sets to bicker about :lol

After seeing this guy, it rekindles my love the DOTM Optimus, soo can't wait for 3A's Optimus. Still debating on if I should get this guy or hold on to hope that 3A will do DOTM Iron Hide. If they do it will probably be 3 years from now at the rate they are going LOL!

what do you guys think should I go for this, or hold out for the hope of a 3A Iron Hide? I know Frenzy_Rumble is a well know customizer and his work is awesome!

You just need to look at the drivers spot in each constructicon to realise they are not in scale with MP.

What is this? A Devastator for ants?

So what exactly is this whole Combiner Wars thing? A comic story? I saw guys like Cyclonus and Prime can combine with guys, why can't Magnus and Megatron?

Agreed, Ra88 (hey!). Here's a screenshot showing MP-10 Prime with the Constructicons; pretty close in scale, keeping in mind that they're all hunched down and he's standing straight. Given that he's the tallest MP (besides Ultra Magnus), the Constructicons should come in just a head or so below a Seeker, like you said.

As best I can tell it's something to do with the current IDW comic storylines but other figures are being shoehorned into the toy line. The Ultra Magnus figure is from the "More Than Meets The Eye" series.

DPrime,
I don't think there's any question, even MP Soundwave's tapes are better engineered than the Constructicons which is ironic considering they were designed by the same guy.

Devastator is big but is still very primitive, it looks like a giant sized bootleg of the original toy with a bit of extra articulation.

As a mass market kiddie toy that's intended to be sold "Wal-Mart cheap" in North America the set just about does it's job, but the only thing it has in common with a Masterpiece figure is it's designer.

From an engineering standpoint I totally agree, the Combiner Wars Constructicons are extremely primitive compared to Masterpiece. However, Masterpiece figures don't look complex; in realty they have a deceptively simplistic look to them - which is what allows them to capture a screen-accurate appearance. For that reason, despite simplistic engineering, Combiner Wars Devastator does not look out of place alongside Masterpiece figures. This will become even more true with better versions that include additional decals and paint applications (like the SDCC edition and presumably Takara-Tomy's).

That said, one could definitely make the argument that the individual robots do look out of place alongside the Masterpiece figures.

Combiner Wars is just Generations 2015, with combiners as a theme. Deluxes and voyagers are components, while Leaders just continue as is without touching on it. IDW has it as an event in their comics, but it's really just a toy commercial that is slowing down the pace of the story, and not very good.

Thanks for the review. I think CW Ultra Magnus is by far my favorite CW figure. I'll be buying one as soon as I find one.
