as a child of the 80s I am always gonna be a fan of these guys. I do not have any of the new MP figures, but I do have the first MP 01 aka first version of Prime, but the only thing of his I am missing is the 'mini' Megatron in gun mode, I still have his rifle and energon axe and matrix.

All things transformers!!!!

I really hope they reveal Ratchet before Ironhide ships, because it'll be hard to pass him up otherwise. I really only need one of the two considering they are the same mold, and I'm more partial to Ratchet personally.

Really? I would've never thought.

I actually don't see myself picking one and not the other, as I believe they were both as important IMO.

Ironhide, always hot headed but willing to put up a fight. He made Megs mad quite a bit on the show, and he got his revenge in the movie by basically blowing up his face.

Ratchet was essential to the Autobots, absolutely more so than Ironhide. But not much of a fighter. Loved when he ran out of energy and Sparkplug kept going in order to fix Omega, thus changing the Aerialbots perspective about stuff.

I had both as a kid, and even then, I thought they absolutely sucked.

I can't wait to add these two to my collection.

Want to like that Ironhide, but I can't get over the weird proportions, the wheel buttcheeks or the hipflaps. I think I like the third party one more.

Also, TFCon is happening this weekend, and yesterday was the third party panel. All the pictures were uploaded here, but some of these I really have to share because I think they will be of some interest to the people here.

Of note but only teased in silhouette:
DX9 is going to make figures of Springer, Blitzwing and Octane.
Maketoys is doing MP versions of Misfire, Dreadwind and Darkwing, and new Seekers and Megatron.

Now for stuff that was actually shown:

TransRobot(?) had a prototype picture of their Jazz, showing the scale.

Voodoo's MP vans looking good.

TFC had colored pictures of their new MP vans. Still don't like it, too Classics too work with MP, but some might.

TFC is also doing a new combiner: Leokaiser!

MMC had a ton to show off, starting with new pics of their Overlord:

Colored pics of their MP Mirage, which looks absolutely stunning:

And finally, Planet X and my favorite of the show: FoC Grimlock! :panic:

Don't forget to check out the link, there is a ton of good stuff to be found there. :D

Those 3rd party Ironhide/Ratchets are all fine figures on their own, but I don't feel any of them capture the cartoon appearances or fit the Masterpiece aesthetic anywhere near as well as the official Takara Tomy masterpiece Ironhide.

Really interested to see how that 3rd party masterpiece Starscream comes out. The official seeker molds are hands-down the weakest of the masterpiece series in my book; just so damn kibbly and not at all sleek in robot modes.

There's a couple of different versions in the pipeline. After buying 5 of the current mould I wouldn't want to start again. Definitely like the idea of some new coneheads being released though, missed out on the Igear ones at release and they're crazy expensive now.

Interesting. That is one official MP that could very much do with someone taking another swing at it.

Getting Jazz and Mirage for sure.

Those third party Ironhide/Ratchets look ok, but the shoulders on the one set are just too bulky. Takara's looks really good though with all of the accessories. Won't judge until I see final pictures of both.

They're definitely both important, I'm just hoping to stick to a "one purchase per mold" rule for Masterpiece and would ideally go with Ratchet because 1.) I had him as a kid and 2.) there's so many red characters in the Autobot Masterpiece line-up already. That said, I might totally cave and get both and justify it by keeping one in vehicle mode and one in robot mode.

Voodoo's vans look pretty good! I'm also interested in seeing the new seekers that are planned. I've held off on the ones available so far.

Just seen it's still available on Kapow Toys so shall be arranging to get my order in with them.
Only nagging thing at the moment is what's the chance we'll see official version :(

Wow 3P companies making it very hard to stay with official MP offerings. Thanks for the update RA88.

Yep my feelings entirely.
TT are taking FAR too long for my liking & if 3P will make it before they do then why should they get my business.

The Voodoo vans are looking good but the sheer amount of accessories with the TT version make it VERY hard to overlook at the moment

I just got my bad cube brawn in couple of days ago. I love this little guy. I think we got ripped off growing up as an 80`s kid with Hasbro version of brawn :slap

Seems like there have been rumors of an MP Mirage for a long time, but there are so many G1 characters to get through that I'm not going to assume it will happen until Takara says so, or at least, that one guy who has had a perfect track record of predicting these.

Yeah that's the thing it's been on the Mill for so long that I doubt it's ever going to appear.

Just waiting to hopefully sell some Retro gaming stuff then I'll be putting orders in for 3rd party Mirage, Hound & I think I'll take a chance on Jazz too.

Ordering from amazon.co.jp?

Anyone in the U.S. ever order from amazon.co.jp? Seems pretty limited to what they're willing to ship (items must be in-stock and sold by amazon.co.jp - not a 3rd party fulfillment), but the savings seem significant. MP-10 for example is only $114 + $30 shipping - a $45 savings over what I paid to get him. Unfortunately at this time, none of the Masterpiece figures I want and don't already have are in-stock.
