And unlike MP Megatron I really like the Seeker mold especially once I discovered the hip kibble can be removed and popped onto the legs so it looks more like the original prototype which was pretty much perfect but for some reason got scrapped.

Hasbro's logic makes me go WTF? on a regular basis but Takara's reasoning behind ditching the original MP Seeker design for something that's less accurate to the source material seems just as bizarre.

Still, Skywarp is very nice and the only minor niggle is that the Decepticon logos on the wings are a bit nondescript as they lack a silver outline but I'll just put a couple of reprolabels over them.

Man I loved this version.

Everything is pretty much the same for the most part, except for the legs and how the kibble works. The dude who designed the MP mold is the same guy who designed Hybrid style G1 Convoy, apparently the fins hanging off of his hips are supposed to be like samurai swords.

There is a mod that makes the MP seeker look just like the proto, it just requires a bit of cutting.
But yeah dumbass has/tak logic, the first version was damn perfect! Still a great mold though.

Yeah he's supposed to be a famed Gundam designer and I think that says it all as if he was really into TF's in the same way he wouldn't have bothered with the ridiculous samurai sword concept but it's still an excellent mold.

In other news my Masterpiece Grimlock finally arrived today albeit with a somewhat battered box but everything inside is intact so all's good. I haven't transformed him yet as I had to leave for work shortly after he arrived but the brief play I've had with the robot mode since I got back has been enough to confirm it's not been a waste of money as it's f'ing AWESOME!

I'm just waiting for Hybrid Convoy and the City Commander upgrade set to arrive now!

Gundam? Wrong franchise, dude. You're talking about Shōji Kawamori, father of Macross and one of the original designers for the Diaclone toyline (which eventually was repurposed into Transformers G1 outside of Japan). He is responsible for some of the finest transforming robots of our time, including the famous VF-1 Valkyrie (Jetfire from G1 Transformers and the "Veritech" Fighter in Robotech), Datsun Fairlady Z Robo (Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen) and Battle Convoy (Optimus Prime). He worked on two designs for Gundam 0083, but that's the extent of his Gundam dealings.

Kawamori's specialty is transforming planes, which is very apparent if you look at the incredible line of Valkyries he's created for the various series and iterations of the Macross franchise over the years. Takara knew what they were doing when they called him in to work on MP Starscream. He's definitely not a newb when it comes to designing transforming robots, particularly Transformers. I do love the original prototype for the figure, but the final piece still oozes class.

I stand corrected on both the franchise he's best known for and his prior experience with Transformers, having designed the original Optimus Prime would be enough to secure his legendary status but the rest of his resume speaks for itself.

I still think he was having an off day when he came up with the samurai sword idea though :D

Can anyone help me find the following Diamond select mini busts?

Thundercracker
Skywarp
Soundwave

Have been checking eBay, but none have been up in the last several weeks other than 1 Thundercracker I didn't win the auction for.

If they only made it where the roof would collapse into the chest it wouldn't be that bad.

They could have made the chairs fold up, swing the doors to the back and then collapse the roof closer to the chest. That alone really would have helped, and then you'd only be left with the annoying carhood. But this? Blegh.

anybody gonna pick up the new master piece prime? the all black version?

I was just going to ask that myself. I see BBTS has him in stock (along with the Buster Prime) but is a little steeper than what I want to pay for it right now.

Great work Bagels! And for you Animated fans I picked up the "Soundblaster" repaint of Soundwave & Freeway Jazz. Also saw the Activator's Prime with Star Convoy colors.
