Glad he finally turned up mate !!! Now bring on collector !!!!

Bob

Thanks man! :hi5:

I hear you on Collector, I noticed in the comic strip in Protector's instruction manual there were a couple of robots on motorbikes that could have passed for Junkions so hopefully that indicates it's still in their plans.

I also got Universe Hardhead this morning and am now just waiting for the Headrobots upgrade set and United Tracks & Jazz :)

Dubz,
RA88 is right on Ironhide, Europe is usually good for waves 1 & 2 of stuff as there'll be the usual fuss made around the time the movie is released at places like TRU.

After that though it'll be the same old story even if the line tops UK sales charts like the ROTF one did :slap

It's a first wave voyager, so chances are high that you'll be able to find him in stores.

Maybe, but im not getting my hopes up as though he will likely get a release here, supply will be so low that all the scalpers will get to them before people like me can so we wont see him anyway because Hasbro are too stupid to send retaliers enough toys to meet demand.

Nice pics, BCM! Lately, the third party stuff has been really great. You should change the Faith Leader head to the cartoon one. Looks nicer.

The only one out of that group that i think is actually worth the ridiculous price tag is mini MP Prime. The rest are just pointless to me, as they either dont look anything like who they are supposed to, or are going to have far superior official releases (mp Hotrod for eg).
Since i already have the proper MP Prime, i doubt i will ever bother with mini MP Prime, unless i suddenly become very flush with cash, or american. :p

I got the 2nd release which didn't have that head but if the armor/trailer iGear are making for their Ultra Magnus doesn't suck I'll get the other head with that.

Dubz,
Hot Rod is the only one that's getting a better release in terms of faithfullness to the original source material but not everything has to be 100% faithful to the G1 design for me to like it, sometimes the old designs need approaching from a new angle....sometimes they don't.

Protector is a unique enough take on the character that makes it a worthwhile purchase to me.

Faith Leader is IMO the true Masterpiece and I'll take it over the oversized, clunky POS that the official one is any day of the week.

Rumble & Frenzy may only turn into guns but the robot modes look much nicer than the crappy looking Hasbro ones especially when displayed with Music Label Soundwave.

Can you point me in the direction of the "superior" official Triple Changer Springer or Ultra Magnus armor/trailer?

Unlikely.

I prefer the MP Rodimus over Protector as it is the Rodimus figure I have always wanted and it is competing with MP Grimlock as the most faithful Transformer in the history of the line.

However, I do really like the look of the Protector kit . While I don't think it captures the character's essence per se (neither did the classics figure imo), as a figure, the design is awesome. If I can find a KO of the Shattered Glass Hot Rod figure then I may buy the Shadow Scythe kit (Protector black repaint) so that I can enjoy the mold.

Similarly, I never bought the City Commander kit because I wanted a more faithful G1 Ultra Magnus. However, I bought the Shadow Commander kit and love it!!

Love the pics of your third party stuff mate :hi5:

Couldn't agree more with the above too :lecture

I love protector, but have to admit MP rodimus is a more faithful representation of the character. In terms of classics, which are all slight updates, it fits brilliantly (MP Roddy won't due to scale) and is an amazing piece of engineering.

I love my MP prime, but again in terms of scale the mini prime will work better with most displays.

I much prefer your rumble and frenzy to the official "tank" release. I haven't got them yet. I have the initial release of the mold though and am glancing enviously at yours............:wink1: Have you got music label Ravage? With those guys and music label Soundwave he is a must !!!!

Fansproject Magnus and springer are the best versions of the characters in toy form bar none. Nothing else comes close!!!

Had my bonus at work confirmed today so celebrated by getting United Scourge, Perceptor, Kup and the Igear kup head set. Robot modes are all close enough for my display and looking forward to them. Still held off on wreak Gar though...............

Glad you like them! :)

I think if G1 accuracy is what you look for most then there's no question that Masterpiece Hot Rod/Rodimus is the one to go for but I also think that dismissing Protector or indeed any 3rd party product on that basis or because of their cost is unfair.

As with the official Classics lines the 3rd party companies are offering items that are easily recognisable as the same old G1 characters but that have a slightly different aesthetic which sometimes doesn't work but for the most part it does.

3rd party prices do suck but I usually raise most of the cash for them from recycling unwanted items eg I traded MP Skywarp,Hybrid Prime and Alternity Megatron with Kapow Toys for Protector & Sidearm and am doing the same with Henkei Megatron for United Tracks so it doesn't work out too badly......I'm hardly made of money so I've had to learn to be resourceful with managing my various collections.

I missed out on Ravage as something else took priority at the time but it's still an item I'd like to get...it just seems to be hard to come by these days so I'll either wait and see if there's a rerelease or get one of the KO's.

Congrats on the bonus!

I'm hoping United Scourge has a cartoon based color scheme to go with Henkei Cyclonus but I do like the Hasbro version as well.

Today I finally ordered the 2010 Unicron. I was hoping to wait a little longer since Iron Man Mark IV and Masterpiece Rodimus are coming soon, but I caved when I saw that bigbadtoystore sold out and that Tfsource seems to be the last US vendor with him instock.

I could never justify paying more than $150 for the figure (I don't know how I justified that price) and if I waited until tfsource sells out then I would just have to give up as he would likely rise in price on the secondary market. Anyway, I am excited as I will finally have a G1 accurate Unicron!!

Here is someone's video review of the big fella:

Cool Zeiss, that guy is ok but I prefer TFSource's Unicron review. I mean they have stop-motion animation! :lol Anyway here is my latest haul: War Axe, United WFC Prime, and the Rosie & RatBat Perfect Effect 2-pack. I love, love, love all three of my purchases! Kingbat gets a tough shake (based on the King Grimlock KaPow! Toys review) but I really like him, and if you want to give someone the sword you always have a like a badass tuning fork leftover! And what can I say about United WFC Prime...just outclasses (and outprices) Hasbro in every way. Better joints, paint, and plastic too. Just a word to the wise that War Axe is a little tight in the United Prime's hand, the American version fits a bit better. Not as snug. And there is Ninja aka Rosie, too cool for school. I love that she comes with swords and blaster canons. Yes I know she shouldn't be holding both but I love how she looks all balls out insane. These 3rd party companies have come a long way IMO.

question about MP Roddy.
Does anyone know how big/small he is in comparison to the other MP figures?
is he Ginormus/ omg hueg lik xbox like MP prime and megatron? or is her more in scale with Grimlock, and the seekers?
If he's ridiculously large again, I'll be passing.

Grimlock and the seekers yo.

have we sen pictures to show this, or is that something that everyone is just assuming?

There's been some reports from people who saw him on display at some toy show in Asia that said he was more or less the same scale as Grimlock & the Seekers.

I'm good with the smaller scale as I always felt Prime & Megatron were too big & clunky to be any fun.

I never liked the small scale. Makes it feel like less of a premium item. :dunno
