WOW!!! That Devastator is fracking awesome!! About how much is that one or the TFC going to run?

The first TFC Constructicon ( Scavenger ) has been going for round about the $100 mark.....it's just over 6 inches tall in robot mode and the fully combined Devastator is expected to be around the 12 inch mark, possibly a bit bigger depending what speculation you believe.

No design sketches or images of TFC's Bonecrusher or Mixmaster have been shown yet which has lead to a lot of silly scaremongering about whether they'll even be released.

There aren't any prices yet for the MakeToys one but as the Constructicons will be much smaller ( the Bruticus it's stood next to is made up of Scout Class robots ) it will probably be cheaper.

As far as Shockwave goes a company is making a toy based on the steampunk design used in the "Hearts of Steel" comic series,

https://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Hearts_of_Steel_issue_1

It's not G1 Shocky but still a pretty awesome looking design.

Given the cartoon based aesthetic of the recent iGear products that have been announced I wouldn't be at all suprised to see them do a G1 style Shockwave at some point so if the steampunk one isn't your thing there's a fair chance a cartoon style version will be just over the horizon.

If you live in the USA perhaps.

Doing so in Europe would require a sizeable budget due to the fact that Transformers are so much more expensive at retail and because the poor distribution means a lot of stuff never even sees a retail release.....imports are often the only way of getting a particular toy.

So blowing a lot of cash on toys that would get trashed during the learning process isn't such a clear cut issue.

There's also the fact that not everyone has a feel for doing that sort of thing or as in my case they could have a health issue which prevents holding something like an airbrush steady damn nigh impossible.

Do some research into fibromyalgia and see the effect that can have on a person's joints.....sometimes holding something as simple as a cup of tea can be painful so fiddling around with a Transformer to the extent a custom requires isn't an option.

Transformers aren't that cheap here in Australia as far as retail price is concerned, but i usually buy them second hand at toy fairs. E.g. I can get a deluxe univere bumblebee for $20.

Hw much would an equivalent transformers cost in the UK?

And besides, if you're using an air brush, some people say that you're less likely to screw up the paint job then if you were using a paint brush. So even if the paint job is not 100% perfect, i don't think ill consider it trashed...unless we are talking about a paint job on a $100+ DMK01 optimus prime or a master piece in which case...ouch.

this looks a lot more G1...

I don't know... It's a nice figure, but looking at the source material at hand, I can't help but think people think it "looks" more G1 because they are comparing it to some idealized, subjective G1 Optimus Prime in their heads.

When I look at the pics below, neither looks any "more" G1 to me - just different.

Anyway, that new Takara Tomy Prime is still bigger than Grimlock and the Seekers, right? So irrelevant to me. I'll stick with iGear.

general word from the guys who leaked mp-10 over on TFW is that takara and hasbro are Done with Transformers that turn into guns. so any new MP megs ( and there is apparently NOT one in the works yet) will be a G2 megs.

take that for what you will, just know it came from the same guys who leaked the info about the new mp-10 being the redone optimus, and mp-11 being a new starscream.

so, you want a G1 megatron, , your only real options at this point will be igear., or getting the reissue megatron.

Ah well. Glad these third party companies are picking up the slack!

Can't wait for iGear to start working on a Shockwave...

The MP-10 is a bit more accurate then MP-1 was, to the cartoon model at least. It has those same, more rounded proportions, and the head is pretty much cartoon Prime, while MP-1's is a far more stylized take that looks outdated and off in comparison to it. But it's still rather off, with especially the arms being too big.

EDIT: Also, looking at the MakeToys Devastator again, I realized something. TFC's Hercules will be 12 inches. FP Colossus is 10.5 inches, head to toe. So MT Giant has to be around 11 feet tall, just one inch shorter then what TFC's will be, and most likely considerably cheaper. Will people care about partsforming, when the size difference (in combined mode at least) is barely noticeable and the price difference will be 200 or even 300 bucks?

Sorry if I seemed a bit abrasive, I wrongly assumed you were in the US as many customisers from that part of the world seem to think that everything is as cheap and easy to acquire all over the world as it is there.

Deluxes currently cost £12.95 at retail which is $20. Not that much if you have a decent income but when you're on a more limited budget it means that it's either collecting stuff or buying things to customise which could potentially get ruined.

Ra88,
As far as size goes Devastator isn't my biggest concern as I want some more decent sized Decepticons that aren't some form of jet in with my lineup and it looks like the TFC Constructicons will have the bulk to fit in better with the Classics than the MakeToys one.

The MakeToys announcement should force TFC's hand as far as revealing the last 2 and I imagine all the cheapskate Americans who think they're the hardest done by of the entire collecting community will be jumping ship as I type this :lol

Not that all US based collectors are like that ( I'm not referring to anyone here ) but hanging around places like TFW for any length of time has certainly helped me form the opinion that some of them are.

If they had to put up with UK pricing and distribution most would quit after about a week.

Yeah, if you want a better total package, it looks like the TFC ones (inaccuracies aside) will be the ones you want.

It will be interesting to see what TFC's reaction will be. The price already got slashed when the first teaser pic was shown, IIRC, but it will be interesting to see what their reaction will be to the preorders that are dropping like flies. According to one poster on TFW, BBTS first only had 83 Exgravers in stock, but that number is now back to 123. Maybe they'll cut the price down more, to about 70 bucks a pop?

A further price reduction would certainly help although I was OK with the price considering the scale and the fact it's a 3rd party release.

Offhand I see right away that the "abs" and crotch area of the new Prime are NOT as accurate as the G1 cartoon model, and in fact the old MP is better in at least those regards. So basically like I said - maybe more G1 accurate in some areas, not so much in others.

I also think that's a bad pic of MP-1. He still looks awesome in my shelf, and certainly not out of date or anything. I've seen much better pics, while MP-10 is certainly posed more dynamically and in more dramatic lighting... it's like those BS before and after pics for health supplements and exercise fads - put bags under the models' eyes, make sure he's unshaven, untanned, and use poor lighting in the first pic... ;)

Anyway, much success today! Found MP Grimlock at the TRU in Portsmouth, NH! Anyone still in need of one around the area is in luck, as they had three more... Also got a free ticket for DotM, which I may now watch if I can find somewhere to print it off and a theatre that will accept it...

WOW!!! That Devastator is fracking awesome!! About how much is that one or the TFC going to run?

That one, no idea, but as they are all scout sized, and fansproject munitioner was 60ish, I'd expect 60-70 for each one.

the TFC one is running 100$ per bot.

No kidding, right :lol Is there anything along those lines with Shockwave? Those two are my all time favs and would be the only ones to get me back into collecting TFs! I'm already getting bled dry with Predator stuff.

Igear is trying to fill the g1ish holes in classics that hasbro is leaving. It's only a VERY short matter of time before they get to shockwave, I'm certain.

He's actually the same height as Big grim. Also, MP10 is not intended to look like the G1 animation model. he's more based on the one from the Current comics. Though he comes across as a hybrid of the Pat Lee/ dreamwave and Idw designs. ESPECIALLY his gun storage.

Hopefully Revotech will make a bumblebee !!

That, is definitely needed.

Maybe it was the iGear one being a bit shorter than Grimlock that I liked... Guess I'll see for myself when I get home.

Funny that MP-10 is supposed to look more like the comic interpretation than MP-1, which is almost certainly used by the artists as a reference model...

Those pointy stacks look off to me too. ;)

I seem to remember Munitioner being slightly less than $50 when I bought it (hope I'm not wrong). That's the price range I would expect (or hope for) for the individual robots from the maketoy devastator.

if t were just the bots, I'm sure you'd be correct. but he's a gestalt. , so, like vintage devs, and bruticus, ( especially because he's made of small sized bots) he's going to be kinda partsformy.

and those extra parts WILL drive the price up.

look at the reissue red version of fansproject Not-swindle. it's much less than the original one with bruticus parts was.

Mark my words, 60-70 PER bot for this new devs.

I finally found Generations Kup today and Generations Thrust last week. Any chance WFC Prime and Drift will be re released? Those are the last 2 I need then I'm all good on the Generation series.

Oh yeah thanks, I saw that when I had an email with free shipping from HTS. I was about to order it with a bunch of other TF but shipping was not free to Hawaii. They also had both battle blade prime and bee on clearance which I also wanted. But thanks again for the heads up.

Here's something interesting. An interview with one of the designers working for Takara Tomy. Great insight into how they do things.

I know, is why I said that he's a bit more accurate. ;) And defintiely not saying that MP-1 is outdated! Only the head is, really.
