I'd say that list is probably accurate. They might throw us a surprise or two but this is pretty much exactly what I'm thinking.

I would add maybe a "real" Hot Rod, too - sized more like MP Sideswipe. 09 works well as Rodimus Prime but he's way too big for Hot Rod, and Hot Rod seems to be a very popular figure in Japan...

Some people at TFW are now getting carried away ( no suprise there then :wink1: ) and are saying an official Shockwave is now a cert based on how Takara killed FT's Soundwave but they're forgetting the legal issues that have prevented any rereleases of G1 Shockwave.

I also think that Takara had all the designs for Soundwave already finished and when they got wind of what Fans Toys were doing they just decided to bring him out sooner....with their resources fast tracking a design from 3D models, to molds, to actual finished pieces will inevitably be a lot quicker than any 3rd party group.

That said it's extremely unlikely that Takara could get one out before FT's release date of February even if they didn't have the legal hurdle to overcome as most regular line toys take several months to develop let alone a Masterpiece.

A smaller Hot Rod would be nice, but I'd want Kup & Blurr as well!.

:rotfl thanks needed that. Also those GB heads are amazing. Id really like them but then Id have to pay to get them painted, find 4 HT bodies,1/6 GB outfits and all the accessories in 1/6 scale. Sigh wish I had that kind of loot to drop for all this. Id love to have these...

Not even! :lol

This and MP Soundwave make me hope the Megatron V2 rumors are true.

I don't think it's so much a rumour... it just seems kind of likely to most people, I guess. I mean, you can't have Starscream and Soundwave without the man in charge, right?

Ghostbusters? :dunno

Some of the people there assume a lot, I've noticed. That's all I'm gonna say. :)

This is coming out in FEBRUARY!!!???

I think I would be fine with just Hot Rod... but I'd take the other two as well, and especially Blurr. Generations Kup is pretty awesome once you get an iGear head on him, but Blurr is just too much of a departure for me.

But still, Hot Rod is kind of iconic. When it comes to the '86 characters, I'd happily take Hot Rod, Ultra Magnus and Galvatron as MP figures. The rest maybe... probably. Just not really a priority, though. I still haven't picked up Rodimus Prime and I'm not sure I ever will.

Honestly, I'd probably want a Sharkticon before Kup, Blurr or Springer. Those guys were cool. :)

Got another order in for mp-10 with TRU.com.

So far, it's been 4 days, and they haven't canceled my order.
I think it's ACTUALLY going to go through this time.

What's this about legal issues surrounding shockwave?

I will say that some hints HAVE been dropped relating to him seeing a release. Are you referring to the issues with his name?

Here ya go DPrime

OH MY GOD I DON'T EVEN...

GOD DAMNIT FEB WILL BE EXPENSIVE!

IS he up for order anywhere?

Didn't know Takara did not own the rights to G1 Shockwave.

Funny thing that. He's kinda my favorite decepticon.

Senator Shockwave. Do want.

Shockwave looks awesome but not sure he's a must buy for me.

I liked the character but not enough to splurge huge amounts on a MP scale figure.

In other non MP related news I had a bit of good news at work today...

I'm due a Chrimbo bonus of £300 in my December pay packet :yess::yess:

So now the dilema is...

Get the Coneheads
Buy Ratchet & Ironhide & pre-order the new minibots
Get the tape packs, Red Alert & pick up MP11 to replace my MP3 Starscream (Walmart version)
Maketoys Giant
Fansproject Assualter & Defender

Why is there suddenly so much choice??? :gah::gah::gah:

Neil

I have recently gotten interested in Transformers Prime. Ultra Magnus is one of my favs. I have not seen him posted here. Is he in the series? If so, is he pretty cool?

I haven't seen UM on the series (I'm way behind on episodes) but I did see a Prime Voyager UM figure at Target the other day.

Ouch tough choices there. If it were me?, Id go either #1 or #3. Great list of figures either way.

I used to be in the same boat a couple of years ago when those Ghostbusters first came out. At the time, there weren't many sculpt options out there, and none that got me all that excited about expending the time and money in getting them together. But those sculpts have jumpstarted my interest and now I'm extremely psyched about this. Ghostbusters is one of my top 2 or 3 favorite movies ever, so those figures should be total grails for me when they get completed.

. . .on a Transformers-related note, I got MP Sideswipe a couple of days ago from BBTS but haven't opened him yet. Pretty surprised by how small the box is!

Ruin it? I think it's still extremely cool. These things usually have a tradeoff somewhere--either in robot mode or alt mode. And personally, I choose bot mode to get the focus every time. Don't want to see another Decepticon with chicken legs like MP Megs.

For me they do, they could of added some curves to the legs as they only end up as the butt of the gun butt instead we got blocks for legs which look rubbish in both modes. Been waiting for a MP Shockwave for years, i guess my expectations were too high :dunno

I know not total g1, but how about a gun arm update like he has in transformers prime?

What's this about legal issues surrounding shockwave?

I will say that some hints HAVE been dropped relating to him seeing a release. Are you referring to the issues with his name?

No. There was an issue with his name at one point (which is why we got "Shockblast"), but that seems to have been resolved.

The original G1 Shockwave was one of those toys that was produced by Takara and Hasbro under some sort of licensing agreement with another company, who actually owned the mold/design. Kind of like Jetfire.

I'm not sure if that would necessarily prevent Takara from releasing an official one - an MP version wouldn't techincally be the same design, of course (that seems to be what third parties do, after all... and variations of the basic design have appeared in Energon, Prime, FoC, etc.) - but still, it might. :dunno

The IP issue with Transformers is a sticky one. From my understanding, as long as a product is a certain percentage different from the original, it's okay, which is why third parties are able to get away with what they do, for the most part, despite a superficial resemblance to old G1 cartoon characters. But a big company like Takara might still want to be careful about it, especially when there are tons of other characters they could do with no potential legal problems whatsoever. After all, even if they would come out on top in a lawsuit, doesn't mean the company that owns G1 Shockwave wouldn't sue them in the first place.

That said, I'm not legal expert.

Anyway, I can't recall any actual hints being dropped by Takara or anything. I think maybe we all just presumed it would be a release at some point, following Starscream and Soundwave. Add Megatron to the mix, and you've got your four main Decepticons right there... But then again, Takara has been anything but obvious, most of the time. ;)

Neil, congrats on the bonus. :)

I would probably skip the Coneheads for now... the price has already gone up, so there's probably no harm in waiting for a little while yet.

And the new stuff, like the iGear Minibots, tape packs, and Red Alert should be available for a while near the original price. Ditto Assaulter, Giant, and Ratchet too, maybe.

Ironhide, MP-11 Starscream, and FP Defender have been out just long enough that the prices might start creeping up very soon. They have a bit already, but not so much that you'll pay an arm and a leg - but you might soon.

I know Ratchet came out at the same time as Ironhide but he doesn't seem to be quite as popular - he's still available on iGear's website, after all.

I swear I'm not being biased in this assessment - or at least, I'm trying not to be - but if you want a FP Warbot Defender, PM me. :)
