I think where he was coming from wasn't about choices, but the fact that third party toys are at a naturally higher price point and to get decent classics-styled figures nowadays, that's pretty much what you've GOTTA' pay.

... until that United RatBat comes out!

Yeah, I guess it's the nature of collecting modern toys. Official lines rarely seem "finished" anymore.

At least we have the option, though.

Right on.

What i was trying to say is that the way Hasbro has handled Transformers the last couple years has been brutal...

If all you want are Classics-style toys, it's always been brutal. The CHUG stuff always played second fiddle to the main line of the time.

Personally, I like the Prime and Kreo stuff. Well, the Kreons, anyway. The builds aren't exactly Lego-quality yet, but it is a construction brick line, so you can pretty much make them how you want. I'm REALLY looking forward to the GI Joe ones.

Prime can be hit or miss, but the better figures are some of the BEST Transformers ever mind, imo. Quite possibly the best combination of screen accurate designs and articulation ever, with the exception of the Masterpiece line (but that's a bit price difference, of course).

Ive been a serious TF collector for almost 3 months now and this is what i have so far.
I also have the OP Maquette and the MP-01 and Mp-04.

Nice set up, man. Some of the Classics figures still mesh in nicely with Masterpieces. United Jazz and Henkei Hound are two figures I'm likely to keep to mix in with the others as well. :)

Henkei Sunstreaker looks pretty decent with MP Sideswipe, too. A bit on the short side but still doable.

Loving those poses and your collection! You bought all those in 3 months?? :thud:

Thanks.Yeah i had to pay a bit more for Grimlock and Optimus obviously, same with the classics but i didnt care which one of the henkei's or the US versions i got,i got the cheapest ones i could find.I still haven't gotten the Prowl,Bluestreak or Smokescreen classics, not Mirage or Cliffjumper either because of the high price on those which is far from worth it imo.Because of this,im so damn happy Takara is making a MP Prowl and Smokescreen now.

I don't care that much about the size differences actually because they are the best options out there so not much we can do about it.I don't mind my Grimlock being the same height as Optimus, but the size on the Third Party Devastators out there(Green Giant and Hercules) bothers me more so i haven't gotten any Constructicons yet.A MP Devastator would be pretty awesome wouldn't it?

Yeah, I'd say go for Quakewave if you can afford it. The legs look off but it still looks like a solid, well articulated figure that is worth the price. A price that is incredibly low for a third party MP. You could wait for an official Shockwave, and it's pretty much a guarantee that one is coming, but that will probably take at the least 2 years.

I wouldn't go as far as to say an official MP Shockwave is guaranteed as there's clearly a legal hurdle to be overcome otherwise an Encore reissue of the G1 toy would have happened a long while ago.

But it's definitely a more realistic possibility than this time last year and I'm prepared to wait as I'm not 100% satisfied with how the Fans Toys one looks.

Would that legal hurdle prevent them from making an all new toy, though? I heard this before, but shouldn't a whole new design get around that?

That is correct. the Legal hurdle prevents a g1 reissue. not the character likeness. as long as the new figure uses an original design, it's ok.

this is the legal loophole 3rd party transformers use.

New teaser of MMC's Predaking. It looks so much better then their first silhouette.

That's downright incredible, but I wouldn't make even consider putting cash down without seeing any of the figures colored first. It's strange to me that they've started taking pre-orders for grey resin prototypes.

Let me know if you want some of those. I've got Henkei Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen and Mirage.

Too small?

I can't imagine an MP Devastator being much bigger than Herc... Honestly I don't think it's in the cards, either, not with so many other characters to do first. That's SIX separate releases... even with the recent upswing in MP figures, that's, what, a whole year's worth? Maybe more?

But who knows what the future will bring? I love my Herc but would probably get MP Constructicons, too. Heck, even just for the individual bot modes...

I think this is what I'm going to do as well...

Fans Toys (and iGear, for that matter) should concentrate on characters that are a LOT less likely to get MP releases... The other Dinobots, guys like Kup and Blurr, Headmasters - that sort of thing.

Yeah to me Hercules would be a bit small next to my MPs,but i haven't decided if im getting it or not yet,BBTS have the whole set of 6 available for PO now so im in no rush.

Ill pass on the classics Prowl and Smokescreen since the MPs are coming this year.
I want Mirage, but the Henkei version is a bit pricey for me,even the US version is above what im willing to pay.At least the US version loose is selling for around 20-30$ which is acceptable, but i always seem to miss out on them since i search ebay for TF classics once a week or so.

DPrime,
It's like Fans Toys have got the G1 Masterpiece aesthetic 90% there but the last 10% makes all the difference and it doesn't look quite at home with the official ones.

I'd be all over MP style versions of Kup and Blurr as their Generations toys were instrumental in my going off the CHUG style as their unique G1 alt modes were replaced with bland, generic ones and the robot modes were pretty awful too.

I figured. Kind of why I'm getting rid of them after all. :)

No problem - TFs don't seem to lose value, so I'm not worried. I've been kind of back and forth on whether I want a CHUG collection to go along with what's turning out to be an increasingly comprehensive Masterpiece/G1 accurate third party collection... But what with a pretty solid Beast Wars, Animated and TF Prime display... heck, I don't want my Joes to be outnumbered by TFs!!!

We need an accurate MP Hot Rod, too. :)

Yeah, with all the great 3rd party and MP figures coming out nowadays I had really no reason to keep the CHUG figures and sold them on eBay. Only ones I still have are Bumblebee, Hound (still the best Hound figure I've ever seen) and a handful I found dirt cheap at Ross.

Just saw this and had to share, this has to be one of the best customs Ive ever seen!

This is beautiful!

... Generations has started leaning towards IDW moreso than G1, which I adore. I couldn't STAND Kup though, until I added that IGear head.

The thing that I don't like about classics (and this is coming from someone with a completed classics collection - Even TFCC), is that it feels like it was made with no direction at all, and has continued that way. It sucks. It's what's got me geared towards MPs more than anything.

I got the chance to review and explore through Mastermind Creations' KM-07 Warper: Toy Review/Pictorial: Mastermind Creations’ Knight Morpher KM-07 Warper

I have actually been considering doing the same lately as I'm trying to just focus on the MP figures now, aside from the occasional other releases that I would want. If I do end up selling my CHUG figures it probably won't be anytime soon.

It's a good day!!! Finally got my shipping notice for my MP12/MP13 order from RK. In transit now, so hopefully should have it in a few days, and hopefully all is OK with the figures!

I have seen that Prime before. I sure looks nice and it is just a shame that in official toy you can't really pick all the details like they are showing there. He looks so much better, when many really nice details are painted to be seen. Too bad I never got any cheaper hasbro version, so that I could paint one myself. I'm repainting now FOC Prime to study alclad colors and still learning the use of airbrush. I have already made the torso with alclad metallic & transparent colors and though saying this myself, it sure looks good.

That predaking looks awesome as well. Too bad it is such hard to get for me and I save money for Prowl and co.
