What will be the price of this Fanstoys Shockwave figure?.

Damn, Transformer collecting really sucks these days..totally dominated by third party crap now.

If he turns out well, i might have to turn to the dark side, since Has/Tak probably wont make one.

Because of the Macross thing? I imagine they could make it more or less like the cartoon and not have to worry.

Though I think you're probably right - too big, not "popular" enough.

I'm gonna hold you to this. :)

I'm back and forth too... I don't think I can commit on it, to be quite honest. It looks great but I dunno... this is one guy I could see Takara doing eventually... and probably better.

If I could be sure this was the only thing we'd ever get close to a Masterpiece Shockwave, I'd get it in an instant.

I think about $150?

How does more choice suck?

I think where he was coming from wasn't about choices, but the fact that third party toys are at a naturally higher price point and to get decent classics-styled figures nowadays, that's pretty much what you've GOTTA' pay.

... until that United RatBat comes out!

Different strokes for different folks but there's no denying that his robot mode is the least cohesive looking of any FP release. I love the headsculpt, but stupid stuff like the fact that it's too far back and whatnot jut ruins it.

And, on a toy level, universally bad joints really take away from the fun factor of it being a triple changer when only going through the transformations a few times does things like grind the knee joints to nothing since the plastic is made to soft. Add those soft knees to the fact that he has NO heel support and a diecast torso... and yea, I don't need to go any further: hot mess.

I understand though that you may not like FP's manga styling as a whole, and that's understandable. I'm a super robot fan first, so I admittedly have a huge bias towards their stuff. However, in terms of just plain quality and playable product, Defender is definitely on the lower end of their totem pole. I don't see it happening, but I'd love a redo with fixes for said problems.

RE, MMC Predaking - Looks fantastic, and it's nice to see a ton of people buzzing about it.

Re, Quake Wave - I'm back and forth on it, but glad to get a chance to have it in-hand this week. Is there an official release date?

I rarely "play" with my TF's so that's perhaps why I've not noticed the some of the issues with Defender that you've described. In general I only ever transform things 2-3 times and for the most part they stay on display in the same pose once I've found one that I like.

DPrime,
More choice is definitely not a bad thing IMO especially when the mass retail options are so far away from the kind of thing I'm willing to pay money for.

I'd sooner pay more for the likes of MP11-18 or some of the iGear stuff than continue to collect the Classics which were always mediocre substitutes for the kind of thing I really wanted.

soundwave,
Not long now! I'm going to be running round the house "flying" Laserbeak when it's here! :lol

TC - Gotcha! :) For me, I just hate that it's one of FP's most ambitious ideas, and executed the worst.

Got the review done for Battle Sentinel SG SP done, so have some pics to share -

Right on.

What i was trying to say is that the way Hasbro has handled Transformers the last couple years has been brutal, i was damned lucky to get a MP10 at retail and many collectors got shafted over that and yet all that you can really find is Prime toys and those new Beastie Prime hybrid figures which are crap,Kreo= crap,Botshots or whatever the hell they are= crap, and the FOC figures are mostly crap too..Generations line was the only decent line in recent memory and i guess it is dead now.

Just sucks that collecting the main brand is not interesting anymore and it drives fans to buy up third party toys with silly names and some odd designs as well, not to mention you have to pay reprolabels a visit after buying these third party figures..i got no time for that BS...not to mention the third party stuff is overpriced most of the time.

Here here. Some KO stuff is ok, but its way overpriced for what it is, and at the end of the day i don't believe in paying premium prices for a knock off. Most of it is ****, i want my official Generations/Classics lines back, they were the best TF toys in modern memory. G1 but with a much needed modern update, and none of the BS licensing issues, perfect. WTF is Hasbro thinking? Bot shots? Whaaat? Kre-o? Its lego ffs!! :gah:

Probably a lot with very little that they can do, considering the explosion of third party items that they have done nothing about except a halfassed ban at Botcon and killing a single item only by beating them to the punch.

...This is the assembly line. It hasn't even been through QC yet. :slap

Ok Mr know it all. We're not all up to date on the factory process of building a damned bunch of toys.

Damn, that new Battle Tanker looks sick. Real shame there's not a white repaint of that mold, it'd look good in traditional Magnus colors. Though it'd also be rocking if they went full out and made a new trailer that transforms into bigger armor. I can see these guys doing a rocking UM, be it the Ongoing or MTME version (or maybe a mix of the two).

Generations line was the only decent line in recent memory and i guess it is dead now.

I'm holding out hopes for Toyfair. 2013 is supposed to be the biggest year for Generations yet, and I don't think the FoC stuff will last longer then the Ruination-wave, unless they want to get Ironhide and Ratchet out first. We already know that we're getting an IDW Prime, and I'm guessing that it won't be the only comic-based updated.

It's not even toys. Everything that is still on the assembly line has not yet undergone the (entire) quality control process. TVs, computers, cars, etc.

MP11:Starscream
MP13:Soundwave & Laserbeak
MP15:Rumble & Ravage
MP16:Frenzy & Buzzsaw

That's 7 new Decepticons, it's not like there's been a drought.

I think the next all new Decepticon mold will be Galvatron, unless Takara announce the Soundwave repaint first as Ratbat is almost certain to be included with it.

Ok, you got me there. :slap :lol

I guess I meant larger new Decepticon molds in general. Galvatron and Megatron would be big sellers even though their molds can't be reused. I don't see the decepticon triple changers outselling them, so that lowers the possibility of them being released even more.

I love how bulky MMC's Predaking looks. The head silhouette is a bit small but he looks impressive. It's a good time to be a TF collector right now. So many options too choose from.

I think Galvatron and Megatron will be the next new large scale Decepticon molds as they're obviously the most marketable....anyone with MP10 ( or Faith Leader ) needs a decent Megatron to go with it and with Rodimus already out and Ultra Magnus on the way Galvatron is another no brainer.

Triple Changers would be an engineering nightmare as some kind of compromise always has to be made in the scale of at least 1 mode which would go against everything Takara have been trying to do with scaling since MP10 so I wonder whether they'll even go there.

I'd rather see them tackle something like the Constructicons or Scorponok.

It is certainly a great time to be a TF collector, there really is something for everyone's tastes.

TJ Duckett,
No worries, I don't think Defender is perfect, I've just enjoyed it more than the other FP stuff that I had and now I'm committed to the G1 style that the Masterpiece line and a couple of the 3rd parties are using FP's aesthetic has become less intresting.

The one area where I really think they excel is quality control and I think iGear in particular could learn from them in that area.

Yeah, I'd say go for Quakewave if you can afford it. The legs look off but it still looks like a solid, well articulated figure that is worth the price. A price that is incredibly low for a third party MP. You could wait for an official Shockwave, and it's pretty much a guarantee that one is coming, but that will probably take at the least 2 years.

Ive been a serious TF collector for almost 3 months now and this is what i have so far.
I also have the OP Maquette and the MP-01 and Mp-04.

Really? Im not seeing that many good TF's in the shops to collect right now...and outside the MP line there's little new worth owning if you already have most of the back catalog.

Yeah, I meant in terms of the quality and quantity of the masterpiece figures recently compared to before. Also with how most of the third parties releasing g1 inspired gestalts. That is a gold mine if done right imo.
Automaton still has Talon Assaulter for the discount price, and I am trying not to buckle, especially since I just paid off my invoice for MP-13. :lol
