my love of transformers is contained to nostolgia, and good stories.

So Animated and prime are AWESOME.

G1 is awesome for nostolgia.

I agree with you mostly except that I really don't like TF Animated probably as much as you guys hate the movies and if I had to guess for the similar reasons :lol

Speaking of TF Prime though, if you haven't yet Lerath, I'd strongly suggest buying a few reprolables for your TF Prime figures especially if you have Ratchet and Knockout. They really bring out the best in those.

y'know, that really sucks that Classics/Generations didn't have some sort of tv show with it. I've always hoped for a G1 revisited type show whether it be animated or just straight to DVD's. Sort of like how Dragonball Z still does movies.

Beasties filled that void for me even though the characters weren't really G1 related. I did get a kick at all the easter eggs that the show referenced though. I loved that show.

Yea I have all the seasons for Beast Wars and Beast Machines. I used to have the whole cast of figures but over the years they've gone missing especially after moving. Great show though.
Beast wars is g1. Takes place in the same continuity as the g1 cartoon.

One of the coolest episodes was at the end of season 2/beginning of season 3 where the find the Ark and see optima, Megatron, and I think Soundwave and star scream. You really get a sense of scale with that those episodes when they show Primal in front of Prime. The beast wars TFs were tiny in comparison

Continuity yes. In the context of when the original cartoon was broadcast, no.

That was a great episode! I still remember cracking up when Optimus referenced "die cast" construction as a lost art when they were trying to get into the Ark. :lol

In a way Bay has helped MP by keeping the money flowing. Too bad he never had a knack for design.

Or characterisation.

Or storytelling.

Or any kind of respect for the source material.

Transformers movies should never really be anything other than popcorn flicks, but the MCU and particularly Avengers is an example of how to do that kind of movie properly.

Imagine a Transformers movie if Joss Whedon was in charge.

Unlike the other moron he would,

1.Make the movie about the robots.

2.Give each robot something to do as opposed to focusing everything on Prime & Bumblebee.

3.Not change everything just for the sake of change.

Tubes78,
Nice wins!

The only thing I don't like is the painted over cockpit canopies.

I know it's meant to recreate the cartoon color schemes but I always feel that it looks a bit off on an actual toy.

Yeah, yeah but has Joss perfected the helicopter at dusk scene?

I don't really mind the movies that much... there are a lot of cringe-worthy moments (many dealing with Sam and the other human characters rather than the robots), but I like Prime and even Bumblebee and the movies themselves are rather entertaining... on a certain level.

That said, I sometimes feel physically ill when I look at most of the Bayformers designs. I really do. They - literally - make me want to barf, sometimes. Not all of them (Prime is a notable exception, but he's not the only one), but many.

I absolutely loved TF Animated and (so far) TF Prime. And of course Beast Wars was amazing.

I couldn't get into the Japanese import anime shows, like RiD and the Unicron trilogy stuff. The shows just seemed awful whenever I tried watching them. Some of the designs were really nice, though.

I've been meaning to pick up a few sets for a while now... any other advice on good ones?

Ha! I'm sure there's plenty of stock footage from military recruiting videos for that nonsense...

Joss Whedon at the helm would be amazing... I can only dream of the character development he'd give 'em...

He would likely be absolutely brutal, though, when it comes to deaths of fan favourites. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, of course... Of course I'm sure they'd get better send-offs than what Bay gave 'em. Or TF:TM, for that matter. :)

I catch some flak for it from diehard G1ers and Baynatics alike, but my personal favorite continuity/universe/version to date is the current IDW G1 Ongoing universe. Great storytelling, and while the bot and altmodes aren't EXACTLY g1, they at least are deriivitive it, and look different enough from each other so i can tell who's who.

That is actually what i like most about them :-D.
The more cartoon accurate, the better. I am a big G1 cartoon style fan.

Honestly, I'm right there with you. I like Cybertronian alt. modes better, so the alt. aesthetic is tops too, and the only bot mode I really dislike is Rodimus.

Is that Re-generation one you are talking about??

I'm quite enjoying that myself at the mo.

I did try More Than Meets the Eye & Robots in Disguise for a bit but neither of them were particularly good really.
I didn't like the whole political tone it took & so I dropped them.

I am working my way through the IDW collections at the moment & have just finished volume 2 "International Incident" & I'm waiting for volume 3 to arrive.

Where these the ones made by Xavier Cal?
Yes they are. I just love the cartoon look they have.

Great score!. Couldnt you paint up a Hasbro Tcracker's cockpit to match the others?
I can sure try. I have one on the way as we speak. I might be able to at least match the canopies, but the rest would be a lot harder.
