I'm with you, I went do so shots and things with Han the other day and I was like, man, need Luke for some of my ideas, should be soon though.

Looking forward to seeing those. I really cant decide if I want to go with him looking into the sunset or not. If I do I've got to use the sandbase from Maul and go to Hobby Lobby to get some foam to paint sand color.

The sunset pose is probably the most iconic shot in the entire saga, but it's been done plenty for me. When the time comes I display mine, I'll probably have him either with Leia like the shaft swing, or with Obi-Wan when he first ignites his saber, the first shot we ever had of a lightsaber in use.

Tunic fabric is a bummer. Looks like a cheap to me.

Sideshow just needs to make prototypes from materials they will be able to have access to for production product.

100% Agreed, even though that means I'm "chicken little" driving a "wambulance".

Its my #1 choice but I'm not sure I can pull it off honestly and if I don't think I can your second choice is my second choice.

I agree they should try to use the materials they'll be using or trying to use for production.

Its just how you react Carl that gets those things tossed your way. This the Boba PF and several others you toss out some pretty cheap remarks and expect nothing coming back your way. It really comes across that they should just put you in control of it all because you know better and if they don't they stole your binky.

Do you have any petshops nearby, maybe you could by a rock for a fish tank and use that for the prop rather than mess around with foam.

Yeah, there's a couple about 15 mins away I could go and check out.

I wonder if a hardware store would have anything?

Carl for as much as I like you I don't think its deniable that you tend to be in the forefront of the complaining.

:lol :lol :lol Man, that's a good one. You're correct, I'm right in there with Collector Freak, chavez and the others. I complain about EVERYTHING. :duh

The fact of the matter is, I'm unbiased and balanced. When Sideshow (or whoever) does well (which thankfully is most of the time) I'm the first applauding them. When they fail or mess up at something (and, believe it or not they do that at times, too) I'm also right there sharing MY OPINION.

The only difference is that when I am giving them acclaim the haters take exception and when I point out Sideshow faults you and others (who almost never accept any criticism of SSC whatsoever) freak out.

What, am I supposed to either love or hate everything that Sideshow does???

I'm sorry, but I'm the one who "calls it like I see it". And on this figure I see a change in material that is clearly inferior and as someone who spent $70+ on this that frustrates me greatly, especially since this isn't the first time Sideshow has done something like this. But, oh well, it's easier for the rose-colored crew to claim "chicken little" and call for the "wambulance".

You're right, there is nothing wrong whatsoever with the material switch on ANH Luke and in fact it's just as good or better. We should all be grateful. :lol

I did not say that but you tend to be in the forefront.

None of us here are unbiased no matter how much someone wants to say they are. We collect these and have some passion for them which automatically makes us biased to a point. Yes, they mess up you can look no further than the Shaun and Ed figures which I gave Shaun a 5 and Ed a 3.5, Pam, Faramir, Strider to a degree, Frodo PF (lips), Anakin 1:6th (lips), etc., etc. You share your opinions but there are plenty of times like this where you let your bias get the best of you and the same can be said about me.

The only difference is that when I am giving them acclaim the haters take exception and when I point out Sideshow faults you and others (who almost never accept any criticism of SSC whatsoever) freak out.

I always accept criticism I just am willing to say why I disagree. There is a large difference between not accepting and giving why I don't agree.

You call it like you see it as do I. The material looks as good but the thing that appears to be an issue is the color difference. Though in a couple shots its not as bad but still not as right as the proto.

I'm sure there are rose-colored people out there but I'm not one of them. If I was I'd NEVER say anything bad or against a SS product and I do far more than you or the other riders of the wambulance would ever want to admit.

I don't think I'm biased at all when it comes to this hobby. I want everyone to knock it out of the park. That doesn't happen often enough though, especially at the prices that Sideshow, Hot Toys and Medicom run. I wish they could all be Old Ben quality, but I think we all know that they often don't come out as nicely.

In this instance, I 100% agree with you Irish. The new tunic material looks terrible.

I don't understand the personal comments a lot of the time. If you don't slam a product enough, you're an apologist wearing rose colored glasses, slam it too much and the chicken little and 'binky' comments come out. It's so stupid.

Agreed.

It's all good, though. Nothing personal on this end. :duff

But I do hate that damn @$%!$@ production tunic. :lol

Well, might as well throw my two cents into this little sandbox.

First, I went ahead and enhanced the comparison image posted earlier. As stated, they were shot under two different light conditions with the final production sample's tunic being washed out. So I tinkered with the shadows/highlights slider in CS2 to bring out the detail that was "lost" earlier. Keep in mind that such adjustments seriously discolor the image, so don't pay attention to the color of tunic in this image. It's not accurate.

But at least we can see the texture now.

As for my opinion, the prototype looks much better. I don't think anyone is going to disagree with that. However, the production fabric is very similar to what has been used on previous figures, and it looks fine as well. I wouldn't have any problem with it if I were getting the figure. My issues are with the likeness, but that's purely my opinion.

The tunic, though, looks OK to me.

My fear with the material is its gonna be shiny and slick in person on top of possibly the color being off.

An addendum to my last post.

I just took another look at the final production sample, and I can see more of Mark Hamill in the production piece now. Maybe the discoloration brought it out. :rotfl

So in that regards, production > prototype.

Of course that's a possibility, but don't let the glossy look in my enhanced pic throw you off. It's just another side effect of what I did. Cloth always looks that glossy when enhanced as much as what I did to it.

Yeah, I just went and looked at the HR pics in the press area. The cloth looks fine and actually look better color wise but still off from the proto.
