She's right, my girlfriend has issues with iron and has to eat red meat every once in a while becuase her system cannot handle suppliments. She starts shking violently and getting sick when her iron is low, has a burger and is better. She's not a huge fan of red meat but she has to have it ever so often.

I'm the same way...I just got a blood test done and my iron was super low - I need to add more red meat to my diet. I eat mostly chicken/fish but several times a month I'll have red meat...apparently that hasn't been enough to keep my iron levels normal. Iron supplements make me vomit - so I would much rather grill up a steak.

pffft. nobody can escape the COW's moooo-rific offerings.:nana:

What is your point? I would do that if it was a good quality meat. Some people enjoy the taste of chicken/fish/beef/pork without seasonings.

^You want to make him vomit right?

I think we all know he was referring to animals and humans and not fungi or bacteria.

That, however, is my point. We DO all know that he is in fact referring to animals and humans, but why do we draw a distinct line between different groups that meet the same criteria.

You constantly hear people make the distinction between humans and animals, as though we were in some way GREATER then animals because we have the ability to rationalize and think at a higher level then other beings.

Why is intelligence the most important of the attributes assigned to any creature. The answer, is that we did the assigning and put our own strength at the top of the list. To that end I agree with one of your other posts, that abuse, is abuse no matter what is being abused!!

Have you tried taking more vitamin C?. I think it is quite necessary to assimilate iron

both of my girlfreind's parents are nurses and they've tried everything (she's had this problem her whole life) and nothing out there is able to replace red meat at this exact moment. There are just some people out there; where all the things that we can do, just do not help them.

yeah in the end its not the meat that tastes good what you are enjoying are the sauces and seasoning that make it such. the dog is a natural meat eater so giving it to him raw with no flavors is like eating a crisp delicious apple for us. dogs also have shorter digestive tracts so they can defecate the rotting meat quickly how come humans havent evolved to that too and you can still smell the meat weeks later when you have a bowel movement?

also babies smell more when they drink animal milk instead of soy/almond/rice milk

yeah but if meat is so good for us how come we can't eat it directly raw, causes health problems and stays stuck putrefying the digestive parts longer than vegetables fruits and nuts?

Because we havent for a very very very long time. We have lost the enzymes and immunities required to digest raw meat. Cooking the meat breaks down the protiens that our body can't break down naturally anymore.

Think of a person with no teeth. Teeth are the tools used to mechanically break down our food into digstible sized food. By your logic, if a person loses all of thier teeth, then they are no longer in need to food...thats obviously not the case though. They get dentures...think of cooking our meat as the perverbial dentures allowing us to overcome a weak attribute of our species.

So what do you understand by "valuable"? Because I think the oxygen that trees create or the meat that animals provide are quite valuable. If it wasn't for them the human race would not exist
Well, that's an entirely different question, not relating to the intrinsic value of a life, but the value of a life as it relates to the continued existence of another, more intrinsically valuable life-form. Food from lesser animals is also valuable of course, but that isn't related to the intrinsic value of those animals.

Well for one this thread is about ANIMAL abuse not the abuse of fungi or plants or bacteria.

I was walking in the park the other day and stepped on a mushroom that was partially covered by dirt and twigs. Would that be considered abuse?

If the mushroom was trapped in a burning building ... would you send a child-accompanied Firehound in after it?

the peoples lose their teeth because they abuse them with sugars, diet soft drinks and tobacco chews. if these werent around the teeth would last a lifetime like the fossils.

but speaking of the teeth so how come most of them are flat and not all sharp to be able to shred and rip apart meat like the tigers and bears. so cooking does two things it makes the meat softer so we can bite and makes it cooked not raw so we can digest but is it natural?
