When my 8-year-old daughter was about 5, she declared, one night at the table, that she was a vegetarian.

Then, the next night, I made my world-famous chicken wings and she decided that vegetarianism wasn't so cool after all.

I honestly believe that consuming chicken eggs, honey, dairy products or anything from an animal is wrong if you're a vegetarian for ethical purposes. Just my two cents, y'all.

No really, WHY!? I want to know the real reason. You already know my stance on this subject so I think it's only fair. Come now, we're all mature folks here...well, most.

Why bother?... :dunno

Vegan. You mean you want to be a vegan. Vegetarians eat animal by-products. You hate watching an animal suffer, right!?

I'm currently a meat eater....but we are so many meat eaters so defensive when it comes to vegans/vegetarians, or simply just people who are considering it because of their own beliefs and feelings?

Many of the responses in this thread are people pounding on their chests, acting proud to eat meat. Like it makes them more of a man or something. It's silly. When people make the choice to go vegan/vegetarian, they do it because they believe in something. You don't have to believe in it, but it shouldn't be mocked.

I do hate watching animals suffer. I don't think that's anything at all to be ashamed of.

And that's exactly where I'm coming from. The choice to guiltlessly eat meat is just as much of a belief, and I resent the implication that it's in any way evil.

Who doesn't? Except for sick bastards who love to watch anything suffer, just as long as it's suffering? Life is sacred, but it does begin with your own, and there wouldn't be any life were it not for the food chain.

That said, were I ever to find myself on the wrong end of that chain, though I would certainly fight for my life, I would do it with the full understanding that the predator is simply doing what is natural. If I get eaten by a tiger, I can live with that (so to speak).

I've never said it was evil to eat meat - I was simply observing how people act towards the idea of vegetarian/veganism and finding it silly.

I don't really believe in the food chain anymore when it comes to human beings. We don't live like cavemen anymore. We no longer have to hunt for our food.

I agree with what you said previously. I couldn't care less what other people decide to do. But can you please read what you just posted and tell me how that makes a lick of sense?

See, this is the problem. You telling people it's wrong to eat meat. Your opinion is in the minority. Don't expect to change anyone's mind here. Just cause you believe it doesn't make it right.

The ultimate meal! Although I slightly over cooked the meat.

No guilt, no remorse, hell if they told me to I would have no problem butchering my own meat. Honestly, and I do mean honestly, I would probably be a bit sad. However, that would go away the second I put the juicy piece of meat in my mouth. :lol

The food chain is kill or be killed, but we don't have to live like that anymore. Do we have to hunt for food nowadays? No. I'm just trying to state that there other options now for people, unlike animals in the wild - so using that as a reason for eating meat just doesn't work for me.

I find someone choosing to be vegan/vegetarian admirable, learning what I have about the cruelty done to animals so that we can simply enjoy the food. Not everyone will feel the same. I'm just going to leave it at that.

Opinions aren't any less valid because they're in the minority - history teaches us that. Just because you think it's right to eat meat, doesn't automatically make it right. See the circular argument here? Nobody's going to win.

I'm not trying to change nobody's mind here...
I'm just saying that if people killing and abusing animals think it's right, I can't change that...
That's it...

But see here's the problem. You can't let well enough alone. You got to put your little stick in there of "people killing and abusing animals think it's right, I can't change that..."You're trying to appear "superior" to us "meat eaters". Deny it all you want, I'm sure I'm not the only one picking up on it.

I and others have said they don't care one bit that you are a vegetarian, but you gotta keep digging with the smart ass comments. I could give a flying ^^^^ that some animal bit the dust so I could have meat for dinner. If that makes me some Cro-Magnon who is just learning to walk erect then I just have one word for you UG (my best caveman impersonation)

because you love me?........:dunno

I'm not here to preach about things...

No one is preaching. Just mature adults exchanging ideas, is all.

If you don't see what's wrong, then I can't help you.

I don't see anything wrong about consuming meat, but you do. Care to explain?

I don't have the patience or the interest in doing it.

Then why keep coming back here?.....:tap

There's plenty of information out there if you're really curious about it...

Sensationalized crap by PETA. I want your point of view.

It is sad that many places mistreat animals prior to the slaughter. I wish it weren't so. I am an animal lover and love my pets. But I'm not going to stop eating meat because it is what a carnivore does. Too much work to be a healthy vegetarian or vegan and limited options
