When it comes to both food and fur, we're still like cavemen... there's no reason to wear fur if you don't live^in Alaska or any colder climate... even with that, there's plenty of fabrics that do the trick...

I actually think people that wear fur are more pretentious, but that's just me! :gun

I live in Canada so fur is perfectly fine. And ummm, pretentious folks are those who have loose principles.:lecture...I love animals. I like to wear and eat them, too. So you're a vegetarian!?...that would mean you eat animal by-products, no!?

ohhh, political thread!...I like!:rock

One time, this pretentious ass I used to work with told me his girlfriend finds it extremely wrong to wear fur(I got lambasted wearing fur by him prior!). I then enquired if the girl eats meat and lo and behold, he said yes. I asked him why it was wrong to wear fur but okay to eat meat and his response was "for nourishment and sustenance" in a very pompous way. Well, I repeated my question over and over again(in a playful way, of course!) and I would get the same answer until it finally dawned on him the point I was trying to get across!....*sigh*...what a PETArd!

I personally would never wear fur that came from animals not used for food, such as fox, chinchilla, baby seal, etc. I know this won't make sense to some, but I find it wasteful.

No. Not really. Not for those who supplies them anyway...

I meant that the animal is only used for their fur, and nothing else. I find that wasteful. Almost every part of a stock animal is used in some matter. A fox is raised, has a electrode shoved up it's ass and killed, then skinned and the carcus thrown in the trash. Nothing else is used. There's no real purpose in that. I'm not saying you shouldn't wear fur, I'm just saying why I won't wear certain furs.

There's plenty of great fabrics to use instead of furs...

I think of pretentious as people who do things or act to fit in the social status quo... like wearing fur to pretend to look elegant or sophisticated... if it were for practical purposes you would wear the skin just like a caveman... otherwise it's snobby and pretentious...

I love animals. I like to wear and eat them, too.
That doesn't make sense at all...

So you're a vegetarian!?...that would mean you eat animal by-products, no!?

I eat cage-free eggs every now and then, and I do eat cheese...

Meh. I really don't care since I'm a heartless betch!:devil

No you're not... you just don't know any better...
:gun

Moral pretentiousness often comes in the form of donning principles for the purpose of appearing superior, or to fit in, or some other second-handed motive.

I personally find acting for the sake of another at one's own expense to be immoral, so I often end up on the trigger side of the harassing vegetarians barrel; I tend to let be those who don't consider it to be a moral issue.

I wear a Canada Goose coat filled with down feathers with a hood lined with Coyote fur.:)

yeah, like going vegetarian to lose weight....

That doesn't make sense at all...

Yes it does. I love animals. I like to eat and wear them, too.

So why argue!? You have no qualms about torturing an animal...

No you're not... you just don't know any better...
:gun

Yes I am. MICHAEL JACKSON IS NOT THE FATHER OF HIS CHILDREN. See!?

Well, I don't know if it's about morals IMO, it's about principle... respect for life... or common sense...
If we already evolved so much in other fields, like from caves to condos, or sticks and stones to utensils...
Why do we still eat like cavemen?... :dunno...

Carnivores rule. :rock :rock

Some people rule... not because of their eating habits... but because of who they are...

You own a leather jacket in your signature.:monkey5:monkey5:monkey5

:duh

Vegetarians are so touchy. :lol

Again... some people are, regardless of what they eat...

Anyway... no more comments from me here...
I don't expect people to understand the reasoning behind it... as I said...
you have to be ready... otherwise it's pointless!

:peace

Hey, Kuzeh! where do you get your food from!?..Do you grow/raise them yourself!?

...that's completely condescending.

You want to know how evolution has played out in eating habits? Do you think paying hundreds of dollars for a kobe steak in an upscale restaurant at the top of a skyscraper, listening to live jazz, accompanied by a beautiful woman dressed to the nines to be equivalent to the behavior of a caveman? Just because there's meat on the plate?

I'd say that at the point where food is no longer a mere neccessity but has been raised to a science of personal enjoyment on the level that modern society indulges it, charges of primitivism no longer apply. Evolution is not a denial of one's nature but an advancement of it. Humans are omnivores, and we have elevated the raw act of consumption. No other meat eating species has done the same.
