I want to see more pics first, but I'd like them to tweek it just a bit too.
When people keep posting actual pics of Jack in this thread then I see the HT sculpts, I just can't see the love and I sooo want to.

I disagree, the serious face eyes forward is the only place I see Depp.
The smiling one is totally wrong IMO.
I also think the amount of detail in the paint is throwing off the likeness, he looks like he has acne or something the way they detailed him with all those little freckles instead of a proper looking tan.

I agree that the eyes look Asian in both sculpts, and that he's too pale and too freckled.

I have that same pic in my siggy and no it doesn't.
Someone photoshop the mustache off both and show me that it looks the same. The mouth on the HT scuplt just isn't right. It might be because Depp wears his mustache past his lips a bit.

Me too. I love his costume and I hope with this being a DX the level of detail will be off the charts.

They honestly really don't. The HT sculpts need a lot of improvement - the serious looking face inparticular. The smiling one is almost there but the serious one (whilst looking like Jack Sparrow) does not look like Depp.

The serious looking sculpt looks exactly like how Depp looks when he says:
"To the Black Pearl" when he's drinking with Elizabeth on the beach when they are marooned.
Sure, it's just one expression, but after having done like 4 Jack Sparrows before this one, you can't blame them for trying something different.

Huh... the HT one doesn't look Asian to me at all.
Now explain how this is even possible. What is this a figure of "Jack Sparrow" played by "Johnny Depp"?
Both of these sculpts are so close to perfection it is unbelievable. Sure there can be improvements to anything. Even the Enterbay looks awesome.

It looks like Jack Sparrow (the character) because of the eyeliner, facial hair, the bandana, the hat etc... but underneath it all, it's very hard to see a sculpt of Johnny Depp. This can also be seen in a lot of Heath Ledger / Joker sculpts: the figure looks like The Joker but strip away the clown make-up and its not Heath's head underneath - hope that makes sense.

The more I look at these pics, the more I find off with the sculpts.
Jokes and Bats brings up excellent points. I still think that the eyes are the key feature that is throwing it off, somewhat. Again, the PERS could be responsible for this. Also, Ween's observation regarding the 'stache length plays into the equation as well.
