Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

The material on Keaton only works as is because he is as limited in his articulation as Keaton was on set. So its true to the source material. If Batman can't even crouch like in the game, then its not an acceptable material for Arkham Batman. Keaton didn't do a whole lot in the suit - the suit wouldn't allow him to do much. So HT needs to stick to a material that will allow Batman to move freely like in the game.

Like I've said earlier, Moe made a fantastic Batman from AA and it was all cloth. If Moe's tailor can do that, HT will have no problem either.

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

I hate to say it, as I know Moe worked hard on it, and I apologize if I offend anyone, but I really don't think it's as fantastic as you make it out to be. Is it a good Batman? Yeah, but I think, again, that the fabric falls short in a lot of ways, and I don't think that's Moes fault, either, but rather one of the shortcomings of what he had to work with. The fabric lacks the texture of the Arkham suit, and even the seams reflect some of the issues I have with fabric, the suit in game has very clean, sharp lines, while, with fabric, you can tell that it's stitched, and again, this isn't Moe's fault, but I'd expect more from a multi-million dollar corporation, and with all of the various things they have to choose from, fabric is the one that I'd least prefer. As I said, just my opinion, and I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings.

sculpted pvc like the predator figures would be the best way to go in my opinion. You get detail and articulation, what more can you ask for.

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

That would be a different route to go - no clothes at all. Just a sculpted body with the details. That might just work!

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

I hope they do a slick fabric with similar "cuts" like in the suit. I'm down with losing a little detail over increasing his poseability and durability.

lets protest in front of hot toys HQ!

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

i think a sculpted body would be a terrible waste that would make it look way too much like an inorganic and cheap neca toy. and considering how much HT charges for these figures, it's too easy a solution and would make for a really unimpressive figure. the predator figures did have sculpted bodies, but were layered with outfits, accessories and weapons on top of this.

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

I wouldn't want to see the joints on a clothed figure, wouldn't look right IMO.

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

can someone post a picture of the moe cystom?

Also, for clarification, the CAP costume I'm talking about is the Suit from the NEW film worn by the actor, not the figure made by hot toys. I see many simularaties in that costume, and how the AC suit looks in closeups.

I'm willing to bet, that given the COMPLEXETY achieved by HT in the costume they put on their figure for cap from the first movie, that they have the skill to make a workable, 1/6th batman costume.

As for a sculped PVC like the Predators, no thank you.

I think body armour made from Vinyl (think Medicom TDK Batman figure) is the way to go

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

That looks cool. But will Hot Toys bother putting the time into creating that kind of suit when they could just go the usual, easy route and sculpt it and mold it in rubber?

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

My guess would be yes, this is Batman we're talking about, and we're not just talking movies anymore, this one covers a lot of those same fans, plus fans of the game, and, due to the design, even comic Batman fans. I wouldn't be surprised if this did turn out to be a DX.

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

I'm sure design wise it'll probably be similar to the latest '89 Keaton Batman. I don't see them moving away from a rubber suit. Hopefully it's as good or better than the '89 Batman suit which hasn't had any problems.

As for the neck joint, I love Riddick's little illustration. That's exactly how I'd like to see it done. A neck joint similar to the Takara Begins Batman would be perfect. While it's not completely seamless, it is barely noticeable and you get a wide range of movement for the figure's poses that would look great for this Batman (like him warming up before he's about to take on goons in the challenge maps).

The most important question for me is, are they going to go with black or blue? Personally, I'm hoping they go with a dark blue like most of the caps above. It would really make it stand out amongst the Keaton and Bale Batman. I can just picture a gray and dark blue Batman with all of his gadgets on a shelf. The cape will be interesting to see as well. It works like the Keaton cape, like it's a type of leather but it's texture looks completely different, like a type of vinyl. It'll be interesting to see.

What about both!

So like two separate releases or one figure that has two different headsculpts, two different sets of hands/gauntlets, two different pairs of boots and two different capes? If it's the latter, I highly doubt it. :lol

If it's the former, well I definitely wouldn't get both.

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

Its actually dark blue in AA. Not entirely sure on AC though.

Yeah, that's what I'd want. I know there's been debates on the color, but I've always seen it as dark blue, character models, in game play, etc.

I just don't want them doing what DCD did with one color for the cowl and gauntlets and another for the cape. That looks strange.

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

I've always thought of it as a "black with a sheen," both Arkham games feature a lot of bright, almost neon, lighting (one of the most notable, and relevant to this situation, being the blue lights of the intensive treatment center in AA), I think it'd be cool if they could accurately capture that, so that it can appear to have a bluish hue when in proper lighting conditions.

Re: Hot Toys VGM Series Batman: Arkham City - Batman Collectible Figure

Yeah but when you play as Catwoman, for the most part, she's always black. There's this discrepancy with Batman. Another example is with the beyond and TDKReturns skins. They're pure black throughout.

Depending where you go, heavily lit, dark, or where ever, the regular suit changes in appearance, it's never consistent. I think everyone can agree for the most part that he's usually a very dark blue throughout both games, occasionally appearing all black or light blue inconsistently.
