Well basically you see, it’s the hockey pads… oh, man…
For one thing I look at each sculpt as a challenge to better myself as a sculptor. Believe me I have Illustrated books, I have done design work for movie props (for retail sales), I have even had comic stories published, but at no time do I refer to myself as an “Artist.” Artists I feel are those people who throw paint at a canvas and say it a testament to “mans cruelty” or some other horse crap, a seem to tend to look down on others whether or not they know it. I just keep remembering there is always someone better than me out there. So I’ll never say “Art takes time” or these are the best sculpt you’re going to get. Some of you guys are good friends I’ve known for years and some are just buddies but I would like to believe I’m down in the dirt with you guys trying to do the best customs we can.
Back to Sculpting…Sculpting is a skill (I hear girls like boyfriends with sweet skills) so I’m at it every day. I will at least sculpt 3 to 4 hours a day, there’s something about it, for me anyway, that bocks out the day to day crap. In fact I get restless if I’m not sculpting. An average sculpt will take me 7 hours to complete, some as little as three. Some of my sculpts hit the mark and sometimes not at all, but some are pretty good and even those I’ll still pull out and work on sometimes.
And one thing I will never do is take money from you guys or anyone if I don’t have the product. I’ve seen dozens of guys over at the Replica Props Forum fall into this trap of taking money and then saying they’ll do it. Sure I get burned sometimes, out some cash for a mold and sculpt time, but that’s preferable to having a thread like this with your name on it.
(By the way some of the above isn’t aimed at Chris) I really hope he comes through for you guy.
