Right? "The mind stone is the 4th of the Infinity stones to show up in the last few years" So we've got the Tesseract/Cosmic Cube - Space Gem. Mind, and Reality Gem from The Dark World. He DID see the Power Gem from GOTG in his dream if that's the one he was talking about. I be the orb of Agamotto in Doctor Strange is going to end up being the Soul Gem.

I had a discussion with a friend and we came to the conclusion that Thanos thought he would get the scepter and mind gem back from Loki after he conquered earth and that Thanos may have needed the portal open to earth, which required the tesseract and scepter.

Is the tesseract the space gem? I guess that makes sense because it opened the space portal... But the cosmic cube has always been it's own thing separate from the infinity gems. If they combine them I won't be too bothered I suppose.

Noticed during my two viewings -two different theaters, one IMAX and one not - of the movie that some of the sound was very inconsistent in some spots such as
when Thor threw his hammer at Ultron Mark I ... it was muffled and distant when he threw it and loud again when it came back. Also parts of the scene when Stark was raiding the Hydra fortress. ...drove me a little mad

People don't give sound enough importance in film, even people who MAKE films don't always give it enough importance. It is crucial to a good experience but we all focus on picture and resolution.

My favorite place to watch movies now is in a theater with Dolby Atmos. Don't even care what video system it's using. That sound system destroys every other theater I've been in.

I don't know if it's my hearing but there multiple lines I couldn't hear due to the mix. It was like Interstellar and TDKR every so often.

Yea, sound is uber important. I spend as much on my surround sound system as I do the screen. It makes such a huge impact

May have been your theater. I'm usually very sensitive to stuff like that and annoyed when dialogue is mixed too low compared to music/sfx/etc but I didn't notice any dropped dialogue except when it was due to a laugh from the crowd.

That's not entirely true, though I did initially have the same thought. I see one possibility but I also see a conundrum.

Thor's vision was that there were deeper machinations going on with everything that was unfolding. Obviously Thanos has some interest in earth as he obliged Loki's war there and his interest was further piqued when at the end of the first Avengers he was told confronting the humans would bring death.

I didn't watch Agents of Shield but I think it's highly plausible that Thanos indirectly was guiding Strucker and hydra to get him the scepter back. It's unclear whether Thanos is able to reach earth without the help of Loki or a portal like the one the tesseract opens. With the mind gem on earth (and maybe another?) he may need agents to help him and have set in motion actions to unlock the mind gem.
Now... This brings up the conundrum. Far as we know the chitauri/Thanos GAVE Loki the scepter which housed the mind gem. Why? Did he need help unlocking it? Or did he not know the mind gem was housed inside the orb on the scepter? I have a feeling this may just be a plot hole.

Also... Thor said 4 gems have appeared. What others? We know about the power gem from GotG, the mind gem from AoU and... What am I forgetting?

The part about giving loki the scepter, I'm guessing Thanos gave it to him thinking he would need its power to conquer earth. In short he gambled with one infinity stone in hopes he would acquire two in return once Loki conquered. He didn't expect Loki to fail. With that failire, Loki may be in trouble, or Loki may offer up the cosmic cube once Thanos comes calling. It does reside in Asgard afterall. Things are gonna get crazy!

Has anyone seen this yet?

It would be cool if Hot Toys came out with figures of the Hydra soldiers, especially...
the flight suit ones.

I'd like any hydra soldier from WWII or the current ones from AoU... Especially the ones
with armor based on chitauri technology from AoU

I know there are some people here that feel they look like power rangers or their villains (or whatever), but I like them because they would look great next to the chitauri soldiers from A1. Or in a hydra display if they ever make more than just Red Skull (Hoping for Strucker, though he was a ***** in the movie.)

Did anyone realise all the happenings in "Avengers" are caused by the Avengers themselves? :rotfl

Just saw it last night and I hate to say I'm somewhat underwhelmed. The awe at seeing them all together wasn't handled right and it got really slow in the middle. Weadon usually does good with the dramatic character sequences but it was flat this time, and I can't really say for sure why. Funnily enough, the two things I was worried about most, Wanda and The Vision, turned out nice.

I think it would have been almost impossible to capture that same awe in this movie. Seeing the Avengers together for the first time was one of those 'first time seeing dinosaurs in Jurassic Park' type moments. It's so unique, historic and memorable that the feeling cannot be duplicated. I think that's why they started the movie off the way they did. I thought it was great but I had my expectations in check as well.

I wish they would have showed more of the transition from Ultron Mark 1 to Prime instead of just showing his new form with the twins. Would have liked to have seen the construction of his body.

To one up that point, I would have liked to see the transition from Prime to Ultimate. You never saw him coating his body with Vibranium like the the trailers did, and his reveal was ok at best. Plus you didn't get to see any benefit from him adding that layer of protection. Would have been nice to see him more resilient to damage.

They started the movie the way they did because that's how it was tied in with the Agents of Shield episode that lead up to the Avengers movie. Same thing the TV show tied in to Winter Solder last year.

AOS wouldn't dictate how the movie started.

I think it was to show that they're a team that's used to working together now. No more need for build up to that.

I enjoyed the movie a ton but I had some issues with it. I'll need another viewing before I decide how I feel. I can safely say TWS and GOTG are still tops for me.
