Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Captain elevator scene reminds me Winter Soldier scene. I thought he going to fight them again.

And he go full " hail hydra" kinda cracking me up

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I hope it is ok to ask now but why does stark go with the mark 85? Is it supposed to fool people into thinking he is wearing the mark vii?

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

It's preposterous. They'd let him have the staff? The magical staff? No way in hell just because he says "Hail Hydra". It's a total movie moment.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Just got back from the 10PM showing (packed theater)!

What can I say, I liked it a lot! It's not some kind of cinematic masterpiece, but it is amazing what the MCU has managed to create. Such a huge universe! These guys can be rightly proud of what they have accomplished.

As for the movie itself, (maybe slight spoilers ahead) I was blown away with the first act. The entire devastated Earth, the way people are trying to cope with the catastrophe... wow! So well done! I guess I could've used a bit more backlash from people towards the Avengers, and Superheroes in general, the "why didn't you stop this/it's all your fault anyway" fallout. But I can understand why they wouldn't go that route. Conversely, I didn't quite get Stark's reaction and animosity when he first gets back. It felt a bit exaggerated and out of place. His reticence in helping out five years later was much more understandable.
Towards the second act I felt the movie drag a bit, as it went into usual MCU-fare. It was fun seeing some of the events from different perspectives, and it was nice to see a few of the cameos, but it was the weakest part of the movie. Incidentally, if future Thor took his hammer from the past, what hammer was past Thor wielding? Or did that open a new timeline that we did not get to see?
Also, I did not like what they did with Thor and Hulk. Again, using Thor's anguish and the destruction of Asgard for laughs felt wrong to me. It's kinda sad that Thor became the comic relief of the Avengers. As for the Hulk, well... I felt the unresolved relationship with Black Widow was just glossed over, and I think the characters deserved better.
Third act was great. Spectacular battles and really deeply emotional scenes. Marvel's appearance at the end was pretty epic, other than that, I felt she was a bit underused, but again, I understand that she couldn't be featured more prominently. A bit of a wasted opportunity though, it would've been great to see her pissing Stark off, or vice-versa...
The Cap and Stark really had the best closures, although what Cap did seems to me a bit of a change in continuity?

Also, this is the first MCU movie were I really liked the photography. There were some amazing visuals. Sound was also great, I loved how quiet the movie is at the beginning, they really used sound design very well.

So, overall, I think it's a great finale to this ten-year ride. Am I in a hurry to see it again? Nope, but I will surely catch it once it shows up on HBO.
Spiderman will surely feel very anti-climactic after this.

Well, now to go back and read through this thread!

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Can someone explain why Dr Strange can't bring Tony back from the dead and undo his injuries the same way Thanos used the time stone on Vision or Strange when he was playing with the apple or when he brought back the stolen page from the ancient book? Bringing back Tony in no way affect or reverses the snap, since the time stone can be focused on a particular subject without affecting everything else around it. It's not forbidden for Strange to use the stone and it's not like he had to do it before Tony dying, so it's not like they ran out of time to save Tony because he died quickly. Strange could have easily taken his time, and just brought back Tony back from the dead.

Don't think the injuries could be undone otherwise thanos would have done that to himself. Just my guess. Apparently the infinity stones have limitations, odd as it sounds. Otherwise black widow would have come back with hulks snap.

You do lead into another question though, if the 2018 time stone was destroyed, and the 2012 time stone was returned, does that mean Dr. Strange failed on his oath to protect it?

But Thanos did fix his chest injury and Vision exploded...he was beyond injured, he vanished from existence, and the time stone brought him back safe and sound...to get killed, again.

His chest injury wasn't inflicted by the stones though and neither was Vision's death. My guess is that the penalties of using the stones cannot be undone (injury to self, or like in the Soul Stone's acquisition cost).

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Not even if it's someone else using the time stone? Not self regeneration by Tony or Thanos, but instead a different person using the time stone alone on them.

Hulk did mention that he tried to bring Natashia back and it didn't work so I guess not?

I'm not clear if he fixed the chest injury either. He obviously has it at the end of infinity war, he uses the stones again in the meantime, then we see him at the garden. If he healed his chest I didn't see it.

Its fitting he tries to off Thor with stormbreaker to the chest, I presume he saw that attack against him off screen when he was reviewing nebulas memory files.

Not to mention all the dead people that Dr. Strange brought back to life in Hong Kong during the climax of Doctor Strange.

In fact from what I remember Wong had been impaled and died.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Watching their China fan event at that large stadium is just nuts it literally is modern day The Beatles.

Marvel turned this cast into rock stars it’s insane.

MCU is no longer just a set of movies it’s a movement.

I have family and friends who have never watched an MCU movie before telling me they’re going this coming weekend just to be part of the fun and the energy!!

Man are they going to hate the movie lol

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Well he definitely didn’t ruin her Bieber haircut that’s for sure :rotfl

The glove only works with all the stones together by making a fist motion first, sort of a charge up type move.

He had his fingers out stretched, and could not use the gauntlet as a whole because he could not close his fist.

So he removed the power stone and used it individually.

Inadvertently giving Tony the idea to remove the stones not the Gauntlet itself.
