I have tried many times to like Alien Resurrection on account of its impressive visuals but unfortunately that is always the only positive I take from it. Just about every other aspect is wrong. Still buying the NECA figures though.

Alien Resurrection is just awful. Ripley is great but it begins and ends there. I hate everything else about the film...

Yeah for ALIEN I have two parallel canons:

A1/A2

and

A1/A2/A3

Because as much as I too appreciate A3 more often than not I just prefer the more hopeful ending of the second film.

Says the guy who despises TLJ because of what it did to the characters from previous films.

I did say I'm not the biggest Alien fan...

And TLJ is just a bad movie. It didn't just trash previous SW movies, it's a bad, awful movie. Bad BAD BAAAAD...

Oh I do enjoy Prometheus/Covenant for being fun trash so yeah I guess they're their own thing and definitely not connected to what came before, lol.

Oh I do enjoy Prometheus/Covenant for being fun trash so yeah I guess they're their own thing and definitely not connected to what came before, lol.

They are Ridley Scott sci fi... so they are beautiful to look at.

Even if they were better movies, I disconnected them from the original when they explained what the space jockey was.... I prefer a crazy looking elephant nosed alien over some humanoid giant any day.

Anybody gonna explain where daredevil and all the other Netflix characters were in there “connected Netflix verse” I’ll wait. Everybody and there mom fought thanos. Where were the defenders? It’s almost like the Netflix series is barely connected at all

Alien was more horror than scifi. It just took place in space, and the monster was an Alien. One Alien running around killing everybody.

Aliens was more scifi than horror. Lots of Aliens killing a platoon of Space Marines.

I think Alien 3 tried to go back to be more like the 1st Alien movie. A thriller. More story driven rather than an action movie. I think that's why maybe so many people don't like it. It was a step backwards after seeing Aliens and how successful and popular it became. Aliens lured in more fans of the SciFi/Action genre that may not have necessarily been fans of horror/thrillers (like me ) and some perhaps didn't even like the original Alien movie.

Alien Resurrection tried to be like Aliens. It became a confused property not knowing what it wanted to be or which audience it wanted to cater to. Since Alien 3 wasn't too successful, it went back to the Aliens formula.

Horror? SciFi? Action? All of the above??

I'd compare it to the Evil Dead. I didn't like Evil Dead 1 & 2. Never watched them for years, and when I did I wasn't a fan. To me dumb campy horror movies. Yet Army of Darkness took on a new genre. I love Army Of Darkness. One of my favorite movies of all time. Yet I'll never own or watch the 1st 2 Evil Dead movies.

Did you forget that those shows were all cancelled and that Netflix is threatening Disney with lawsuits if they use those characters within the next few years.

They were never going to be in EG.

Same. It's not an all-time favourite but I love it, and wouldn't give any time to the other 2.
