In the most recent interview between the Russos and Peter Travers they refer to the films from Iron Man 1 to AEG as "The Infinity Saga." Nice name for a box set.
They do admit to being partial to Cap due to their history with the character but still only call him the "co-leader of the Avengers" along with Stark. They consider Steve and Tony to be opposite sides of the same coin, where Tony's arc takes him from a self-absorbed loner to working well with a group compared to Cap who starts by taking orders like a good soldier but then has to eventually walk away from the powers that be due to his personal code of ethics.
