Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

EG was taken out of the # 1 spot by John "the goat" Wick.

(couldn't find any gifs of Keanu emoting or showing a single human emotion :dunno

Yep.

TFA Domestic
Avatar Global
AEG Opening Weekend

Three records that may never be topped.

At least EG holds one of those although EG record will eventually be broken but not Avatars not with EG failing to do it.

Did I just use the word failing in the same sentence as EG lol

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

That 3 hour run time eventually was going to have an impact and there it is.

With Star Wars yes.. With Avatar no... Avatar was 2 hrs and 42 min.... I don't think that extra 18 min is turning people away..

EG would have won all categories if they gave Hulk a couple of Crowd pleasing moments.
They would have got two or three more repeat viewings from me for sure :lol

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

In my are EC played more than JW and even had a few sold out showings. Where JW had seats available for every showing I could find.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

EG now sitting at 2.614B!

Avatar 2.788B!

Oh man it’s going to be real close.

You just know Marvel will release it holiday 2019.

I disagree. Christmas releases equal two weeks of no school and then 2-3 months of no blockbuster competition so longer films have a lot of room to breathe that time of year. Heck AEG isn't even technically a summer move because for the last four weeks kids have still had to go to school.

So I do think that adding a 3 hour run time to all those other factors proved too much but I'd much rather have the film we have than a shorter one that hit #1 all time.

Avatar didn't even do that well Christmas week did it?? Kids still get two weeks off in your area?? Man mine get 1.. Additional half if the new years falls on the right day.

So EG should have a resurgence with Summer Vacation in its way and only Godzilla to stop it :)

That's what Titanic did.. It just kept making money no matter what time of year it was.

Face it.. Avatar had longer legs and is by far the better movie
:lol

;)

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I was dead set that it wouldn’t beat Avatar but looking at the new numbers I think it’s a forgone conclusion that it will now.

I think it ha got a shot... Problem is... DO you want it too? Then people might start turning their back on it like Avatar..

Now I think its a better movie then Avatar but I could still see a backlash..

Hell I was already backlashing against it after the first night :lol

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

So how long do you think Disney will keep EG in theaters? Long enough to topple Avatar or just let it go to video? I read that it streams on Disney plus this winter so it has a long time before the home release.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Both Titanic and Avatar were released the first week of December..

Titanic opened with only 28 million its first weekend.. Thats nuts that it went on like it did..

Didnt stop playing in theaters until the following October..

Avatar opening weeking was a much bigger 75 million openning and played till August..

Both films are nuts for doing what they did..

They had staying power for sure.. No matter what was up against it.. Weird..

Titanic was really a cultural phenomenon..

I dont even like either film but I can respect them both for doing that..

People are sheep :lol :lol
