Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

So how long do you think Disney will keep EG in theaters? Long enough to topple Avatar or just let it go to video? I read that it streams on Disney plus this winter so it has a long time before the home release.

I just posted how long the other two films were there

8 months for Avatar

10 for Titanic..

I think should be able to make it 4 months at least.. But I am not sure..

If it was James Cameron's Avengers Endgame then I would say yes no problem. :lol

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

EG now sitting at 2.614B!

Avatar 2.788B!

Oh man it’s going to be real close.

You just know Marvel will release it holiday 2019.

Oh wow I guess boxofficemojo had only updated the domestic numbers when I checked early because they still had global at 2.5. I guess it does still have a chance, lol.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Both Titanic and Avatar were released the first week of December..

Titanic opened with only 28 million its first weekend.. Thats nuts that it went on like it did..

Didnt stop playing in theaters until the following October..

Avatar opening weeking was a much bigger 75 million openning and played till August..

Both films are nuts for doing what they did..

They had staying power for sure.. No matter what was up against it.. Weird..

Titanic was really a cultural phenomenon..

I dont even like either film but I can respect them both for doing that..

People are sheep :lol :lol

Avatar got an extended edition re-release August 2010, it didn't play in first run theaters that long. In June when Toy Story 3 came out it was only on 17 screens across the entire country and made a piddly 45 grand:

:lol :lol

It was way more iconic too. ;)

Hell I think even the action figure cards had labels like "Blue Chick," "Sam Worthington's Character," "Bad Military Guy," etc.

lol

I remember I almost got trampled by a bunch of kids fighting over the last figure of guy in a t shirt and wheelchair.

I think CM is still making money!

Disney is a powerful mafia I bet right at this moment their box office enforcers are holding the CEO’s of AMC and Regal cinemas upside down over the side of a high rise. :lol

Either Avatar is going down or they are!

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Speaking of t-shirts I did think it was kind of funny that apparently Garden Thanos and BR 2049 Deckard both shop at the same "Retirement Apparel for Sci-Fi Characters" store, lol.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Even if EG makes just 20 million a week it will pass Avatar in 6-7 weeks!
It's going to be incredibly close, but I still think it will push past.

Get on the horn to Disney, tell em to start work on that theater only extended edition, but not too extended, gotta save something for triple dip box set.

I mean I know i’m oversimplifying things but once you factor in international I really just don’t see any scenario where it doesn’t beat it.

I think Avatar also had fewer higher ticket priced 3D screens when it was out compared with today.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

If this movie beats Avatar i’m sending JAWS a free AOU steelbook! :rotfl

Even if AEG beats Avatar but then Avatar retakes the crown with a re-release right before the first sequel it'll still have that asterisk next to it saying that it's only #1 because of two re-releases. :devil
