Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Whats wrong with a 4th excellent movie then? Maybe taking place between Civil War and Infinity War?

IMO they should have done that anyway, since they opted to reduce Cap to like 6-7 minutes in IW. *Violated expectations*. Was really expecting to see a bit-snarky-but-a-bit poignant scene of BW tracking fugitive Cap down in some gritty backwater; interspaced with Bucky waking up and getting retrofitted in Wakanda, and an overall sense of ratcheting threat in IW.

But the Russos rolled through IW on triple espressos and sugar highs I guess. There was a LOT of Cap in EG, so maybe that was the plan, but IMO neither movie was what it could've been or had the grit I was hoping for - tho I think EG was better on that score. Had more breathing space and way better script.

Evans tho seems to have blown hot and cold about being Cap since TWS. On YT someone rudely posted he needed to kick around on his projects a while, "have a few years of failure", and then he'd be happy to be Cap again. Rude, but it is true re Evan's "little movies" that he seems to like haven't gotten huge attention.

EG writers say that their main goal with IW/EG was to provide as close as an experience to what they felt when watching SW and ESB in 77 and 80 for the 8 year olds of today. Funny that they basically had the same end goal as JJ and KK but Marvel came much closer to achieving that without simply redoing scenes from the movies that inspired them.

And when asked how they could dust Spider-Man, BP, DS, and most of the GotG they said it would have been so contrived and obvious if Thanos snapped his fingers and only the sidekicks disappeared, lol.

:lol :lol :lol

I don’t know if I could sleep at night had Mantis been dusted lol

Oh no Stallone’s Ravagers what to do what to do!

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

that truly is the wackiest cameo in the MCU he doesn’t even have a character name I think it’s just Stallone lol

Of course the character has a name!
(I know you weren't being serious)

:lol

And here's a bit of worthless trivia ... Endgame would be the 10th highest grossing film globally of all time ... with just the US and China.

IMO it WAS the "sidekicks" that disappeared. IMO completely illogical that only the "originals" were left standing. I always thought it would've been a lot more interesting to leave Bucky but not Cap; SW but not BW, T'challa but not Shuri e.g. really mix things up. Leave Drax but not Quill.

Cowards.:wink1:

I wish I had known that before seeing IW and EG re the writers' focus as IMO that explains a lot. Although since the Russos were tapped waaaay back both writers and Russos have said a lot in the press; so has Feige; at this point I trust no-one.

But not to sound TOO negative; I could watch Cap hearing Sam's voice scene over and over - that few minutes of pure epicness:love. Esp. Evans IMO did a stellar job I was hurting for him. It's scenes like that that have me shelling out for *pricey collectibles*.

Yea, im a big fan of when movies really have breathing space to explore characters. Honestly it took me awhile to warm up to Infinity War for that very reason. And I definitely think they should have kept that 5 minute scene in the first Avengers movie where Cap walks around NYC and sees how the world has changed. Great scene.

Well, as bad as it is to say, its unlikely that Evans will do anything again that reaches this level of popularity or brings him this level of attention. If smaller art films make him happy then all the power to him, but he may find that he misses the level of prestige that these films naturally draw.
