Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Because he’s on the forum with me lol

You know us old farts like to forget just how many bad movies there were when we were young, let’s say the 80’s, if anything I think filmmaking and storytelling has evolved enough where there are LESS “bad” movies now than there were in the 80’s!

If we were all our current ages with internet on this exact date in 1985 these are the theatrical movies we'd be talking about:

Rambo: First Blood Part II
Fletch
A View to a Kill
Brewster's Millions
Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment
Mask
Desperately Seeking Susan
Code of Silence
Witness
Ladyhawke

Or how about this exact date in 1987:

Beverly Hills Cop II
The Untouchables
Harry and the Hendersons
Ernest Goes to Camp
The Secret of My Success
The Gate
Ishtar
Creepshow 2
The Chipmunk Adventure

F--- that!

:lol

Yes that decade gave us a hell of a lot of the greatest genre films of all time but I don't want to hear anyone complaining about films today being categorically worse than any given time in the 80's, lol.

For real! We are living in a Glorious era of Quality Pop Culture Nerdy content. I can't wait for the future and will enjoy this **** until I die. :)

Holy crap :rotfl

Reality hurts....real bad lol

A View to a Kill holy crap is that trash or what lol

I get nostalgic value from it. Moore was my childhood Bond. Also, the Duran Duran song is one of my favourites..even with some nonsensical lyrics.

They've really got it down to a science, most movies are pretty good now. When I was a kid, it seemed like 80% of what came out was utter garbage, broken up by some truly great films.

It’s hard to hate Roger Moore if that makes any sense and yes I do like that song, DD has a great live version floating around on YT.

Yep, every year has stuff to love and stuff to laugh at. No decade has ever cornered the market on greatness *or* crap. It just comes down to what you want to focus on and how forgiving we used to be then compared to now. I mean sure we can roll our eyes at the crappy characters in Kong Skull Island but if someone went back in time and released that film in 1986 instead of King Kong Lives we would have all been ****ing our pants at how awesome it was, lol.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Usually each year has at least 3 or 4 standouts for me. I love movies and some of the recent ones like End Game and Bladerunner 2049 will go along the rotation of my favorites like Raiders and Empire and Die Hard. So many good movies out there. Great time to be a fan and a nerd. I am just glad I can watch the Harmy Star Wars trilogy with Rogue One.

We'd all be talking about how great Ladyhawke was. It was. For about 5 minutes. At that time.

Michelle looked outstanding in that movie. Might be the last good role Hauer had too. Don't say it -- The Hitcher was pretty bad.

Everyone see the story of the anonymous ********* director who is an academy voting member who said this BS:

“There's just no way on earth that I will ever vote for anything with the word Avengers in the title; like a lot of people in the Academy, I don't respect money-grabs.”

What a jealous little prick. Aren’t all movies cash grabs you dumb little twit or did Marvel spend 200-300 million per movie for nothing!

I bet Wor-Gar knows who said it, c’mon Wor spill the beans.

I'd like to see how many directors could pull off a feat like a 22 part story, keep it coherent, and for the most part, very good.

He'd probably sell off his mother for a chance to work on one of those films.

Oh geez I would never vote for it either lmao or even something like Spider-Man 2 which is miles ahead of this. Doesn’t mean it’s bad but come on get a grip

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

It's not that the rest of us aren't aware of these things, hell, I can usually predict what's going to happen in most movies within the first 15 minutes. But I think it has more to do with not letting all your potential joy be ruined by being so jaded, and to just learn to let go and enjoy things as they come, by being in the moment.

Life can be miserable if you don't allow yourself to enjoy things.

I just lost all interest in this thread lol. Boring people just wanna talk crap. I'm going on 40 and I can still escape reality by watching a movie.
Sounds like you need to take a trip to Vormir guys.
