Much as a South Asian superhero would be cool to see on film, I think Ms. Marvel is a kinda lame character -- but I'm not her target demographic. I could see Kaling in an MCU film but she's the wrong age and type for Kamala herself unless they really *stretch* (this stuff writes itself) the adaptation.
But this brings up an interesting premise. Now that the core Marvel properties have been used to entrench the universe in the general public's mind, they're presumably free to branch out and offer films and characters that are not necessarily targeted at people like me. If done well, nothing wrong with that. It's not as if they're going to forego the mainstream characters and stories completely.
