Endgame was better second time around for me and damn it I'll go ahead and give it a 10. The emotional pay-off of this whole endeavor is just unbelievable. It's a fantastic ending - you really could just leave it there and you've got something truly special.

Before the second viewing I didn't care if it beat Avatar but now I'm glad it has. It's only right.

Yes. :exactly:

Think of series' like Raimi Spider-Man or Nolan Batman. And how they ended things after only three films and one main character. And then look at how the Russos closed out 22 films with not just one main character throughout but literally dozens. Multiple teams (Avengers, GotG, Asgardians, Wakandans), multiple solo heroes (Spidey, Ant-Man, Strange, etc.) And to do it in such epic and satisfying fashion.

I can't believe I lived to experience the OT, LOTR, and now the MCU Infinity Saga.

Truly worthy of the # 1 spot lots to celebrate there.

Yeah sure Avatar didn’t require 21 movies before it to acheive that record but so what...so freaking what I could never sit thru that plot ever again so what good does that record do.

Avatar’s legacy was its tech, it was 3D, and look how that ended up only a niche tech for enthusiasts like me.

Avatar just never felt right being # 1.

EG does in of itself and as a celebration of the 22 movies making history.

We have a current example of how badly it all could have gone if there hadn't been a sound plan in place.

They went about it the right way, the only way that could truly deliver the requisite awe when these heroes shared the screen. DC thought they could have Endgame-level emotional impact when they killed Superman in their second movie. :slap

I've seen people diss EG for "needing 21 prior films" when Avatar took the crown with one. As if crafting a narrative of dozens of likable characters 22 films long and then sticking the landing was the *easy* way to do it. :lol

Avatar was the Lord Denethor of films. A long sitting steward on the throne but never the rightful king.

Exclusive footage of Cameron reacting to the news that EG had overtaken his film:

Marvel took the hard route to get to Endgame's success. The whole MCU could have gone wrong 21 times (or more for canceled films). They didn't. The worst movies in the franchise were still watchable. Everyone who has tried to copy Marvel's formula has failed so far.

Really, no we're looking for random meaningless lines in old movies and tying them to EG like it was done by design? :lol

I'll be impressed if some foreshadowed the little rat. That'd be impressive.

There's one reference that went unnoticed by a lot of people. In IW Wong mentioned a Hulk flavor Ben n Jerry ice cream, and in EG, Hulk can be seen eating that same ice cream.

It's called noticing the amazing way that so many pieces fit together seamlessly over 11 years and 22 films, regardless of what was planned.

Like two Steves carrying Peggy's casket all along. :panic:
