Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Professor Hulk was always much weaker than the actual HULK. Now days it's explained that all these variations to the HULK character (Grey, Savage, Professor, World Breaker and so on) are just Bruce multiple personalities and some are stronger some are weaker. The "the madder he gets, the stronger he gets" applied to Savage Hulk. I agree that I'd like to see him fight more instead of all that talk. But as far as stupidity goes, it's down right to the comic. be glad they didn't give him pink bunny slippers...

As for Thor, although that did last longer than I would have chosen, I can see how he would be going through all that. After he lost everyone in his life, half the universe died because he missed his shot. He still looked good before the first attack on Thanos, he left himself go after he thought there would be no hope to bring people back.

Him being hesitant during the time travel made sense too. I mean, if he messed this up, he could loose the Avengers too. Dude would probably kill himself.

I see your point in regards to the comics on this one. Thank God they did NOT do that too! Don't get me wrong, I still love Hemsworth/Thor!

While I will still rate this movie a success there are 5 items that are super infuriating to me and collectively almost derailed the entire movie for me.

I will rate them from order of severity.

1. Is Marvel Studios mistreatment of the Hulk because Universal Studios will not relinquish control of him is that what’s going on here. I mean why else would Hulk’s IW arc NOT be fulfilled WHY! He lost BW and then put on the damn IW GAMMA gauntlet WHY WOULD THEY NOT CUT HIM LOOSE against Thanos and his army in super rage mode WHY MARVEL WHY!!!!!! It didn’t have to be World Breaker Hulk BUT at the very least let him have his freaking redemption from his IW beat down. Instead we get him throwing a stupid bench to showcase his rage, wut! That just hurts me to the freaking core our last chance of seeing Hulk BE HULK...wasted!!! WTF Marvel seriously WTF!
2. Bucky not being the person to speak with elderly Steve IT SHOULD’VE BEEN BUCKY BECAUSE IT ONLY MAKES FREAKING SENSE!!! What a freaking lost opportunity for an incredibly emotional scene! Fine give the shield to Falcon but only after Steve speaks with Bucky. Screw that the shield should’ve went to Bucky nuff said!
3. Dr. Strange 14 million:1 IW arc being relegated to the background instead of having proper relevance to Stark’s sacrifice.
4. Some characters like Bucky and WM completely wasted during the big battle...again! Yes i’m well aware there are dozens of characters but would it hurt to give each one a quick heroic moment similar to how BP was given one this time out.
5. Red Skull not having more to do and Steve not learning of Red Skull being alive and his connection to the stone.

Thankfully there were enough other epic moments to offset those 5 grievances for me.

Surprisingly Thor’s arc didn’t bother me at all it actually made sense and besides he’s had his heroic moments already quite a few of them to be exact.

Stark’s death was powerful and Cap was a serious bad ass and his arc was handled appropriately although I do have lingering questions about his time travel arc.

Grrr I wanted perfection or at the very least Hulk rage dammit!

Going again tonight lol

Your "Going again tonight..." was the best close to a post I've ever seen. :rotfl

We definitely agree here! What a wasted opportunity! Hence, my disappointment! Like I mentioned in my spoiler, switch out a certain character and things would've been so much better.... Grrrr.

Poor Hulk and fans like myself, left jaded on the sidelines...……….:(

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I’m glad some people love this movie. I enjoyed most of it as I watched it, but for me it went off the rails in the third act, and reduced Thanos into a cartoony, mustache twirling bad-guy.
It undid the interesting, nuanced character from IW and the comics just so we could get Battle of Wakanda 2.0.

If it’s still five years later at the end, why are Ned and Peter still in high school? Ned acted like he survived the snap and hadn’t seen Peter since then.

I don’t agree I thought he was menacing af.

Agree with all your points. And I am going again in a few hours - but,

IMO there was too much "character wastage" here e.g. Hulk, to Bucky and Falcon, to Shuri, to DS...I get it kinda, I guess. What the Russos were trying to do, and a real love letter to Cap and Tony. I probably felt more emotion about BW and Hawkeye - kudos to JR on this one, he earned it.

I dunno Tony's end just irritated me - maybe 'coz I really didn't see the need for it. For *&&^% sake DS was RIGHT THERE as well as BP and Shuri w. the magic balls.

IMO there was some really, really good stuff but - yeah, I'm going again but gonna look into cancelling my Sunday tickets, or give them away. Same thing I felt about IW that didn't happen in CW or other films - without follow through on various characters - real arcs, and the feel of being rushed in some parts and fan service in others - there wasn't anything "iconic" here that made me want to watch again and again. For me. Felt kinda uneven.

You have no idea how
depressed I am today that Hulk didn’t get his moment to shine. It was bad enough he didn’t get it in IW but I said ok fine it will definitely pay off in End Game so when it didn’t happen I just cried.

:exactly:

AGREED! I feel the same way!
Damn Disney....! Quit trying to force another character down our throats (especially one that isn't exactly liked by everyone) and respect the ones you already have! Hell, One good punch, and I would have been happy with that even!

Now if you'd excuse me... I'm going to go brood somewhere else and wait for the next episode of GOT on Sunday. I'm sure that'll in some way shape or form, piss me off too...………… :gah:

They tried to have a big
hero entry moment which is perfectly fine have a big hero entry moment but it should’ve been with super gamma powered up raged Hulk breaking out from the debris and NOT CM! Not because I don’t think she shouldn’t have her own big entry but save it for another moment AT LEAST LET HULK FULFILL HIS IW ARC FOR CHRIST SAKES!!!!!!!!

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

OK so my full review:

The Good:

Perfect send off for Cap and almost perfect send off for Iron Man. I loved seeing them go back in time to the big battles where the Infinity Stones were active, especially the Battle of NY which was very nostalgic. I also loved how they squeezed in HYDRA showing up afterwards to collect the scepter and then Cap fooling them all into thinking he was on their side in order to get the scepter. :lol The beginning was a lot more comedic than I expected, but in good way save for one thing that I will discuss in "The Bad" section. The final battle definitely went above my expectations and most of the CGI was pretty decent even if it went a little overboard... at least it was better than the fourth grader's first attempt at Blender CGI final battle in Ragnarok. :lol Also loved seeing the Black Order back which I didn't expect. They did a good job at tricking us into thinking Captain Marvel would save the day but then BOOM she was out of the game, thankfully. I enjoyed seeing Banner's intellect mixed with the Hulk's brawn even though it was goofy. This film also managed to make the Ant-Man movies better in retrospect because now I can watch those knowing that Pym's technology is what they use to go back in time and collect all of the stones.

The Meh:

Widow's sacrifice didn't feel like it had enough substance to me. I dunno, I just didn't really miss her after they lost her. Not having Hulk completely lose control after learning of Widow's death was definitely a wasted opportunity. I was also really bummed out that they didn't show us what Loki did with the Tesseract after he escaped with it... I would have really liked to have seen that. He might as well have not been in the movie at all. Thanos seemed more like a one-note villain in the context of this film alone, as opposed to IW where they got us to root for him and developed his entire motivations. Although he was still menacing and looked badass in the armor while wielding that double-bladed sword, and I understand why he sort of took a back seat here because we already had an entire movie dedicated to him.

The Bad:

Thor. Urgggggg... Hands down THE WORST portrayal of him in the MCU to date. I didn't mind the whole big belly thing when Hulk and Rocket arrived at New Asgard to get him back after five years, but having him with that gigantic gut throughout the entire rest of the movie got old really quickly and practically destroyed that last moment with his mother for me. If this is going to be Thor's last appearance then this was a terrible way to send him off. It's as if they went "Oh, you thought Ragnarok was the ultimate insult to injury? Well you ain't seen nothing yet!" Just when they redeem him in IW, they screw him up again.

8.5/10

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I have this inconvenient thing called 'work' so I can't post a full review, but the morning after my opinion stands -- the film is shockingly good. Not perfect, but I thought it was incredibly well done.

I had two viewings within an hour of each other, and it was a hell of a ride both times.

Couple of issues...MAJOR SPOILERS below:

1. Hulk was wasted. I do think he should've gone Savage Hulk.

2. I also think they took The Big Thor-owski too far, but I imagine he'll show up with the GOTG in future films and be working out again.

3. In hindsight, Tony's death does seem unnecessary, but between RDJ's salary and the need for the film to have gravitas, I guess it had to happen. Part of being heroic is sacrifice, and the film had to illustrate that for us. Heroism has to cost something, sometimes.

4. The time travel aspect seems a bit fast and loose, raising a lot of questions.

5. I thought super-soldier serum decelerates ageing, but maybe not in the MCU.

6. It did seem odd that old Cap would talk to Steve before Bucky, but what I caught only on my second viewing was that Bucky already knew what Cap was going to do.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Which I would’ve been absolutely fine with AS LONG as the other character arc was met which it wasn’t.

I need a hug.

Seeing the mark ruffalo signature and seeing his progression would made me think what would had happened if Edward Norton was up there

I think of the dumb stuff like wait, was every one taking turns on nat minus tony, clint, thor for the last 5 years??

How did they get the arc reactor from im1 from the bottom of the ocean when the malibu mansion was destroyed??? In IM3

Howard in 1970 has all black hair, at the stark expo he has full white set of hair by 1977 who knows lol
