I pretty much agree with everything this guy just said.

Same here... And I don't let my fanboy loyalties drive my actions. When Ledger was announced, people were screaming that nobody could outdo Nicholson and that it would be Brokeback Joker...blah blah blah..

But I knew it would be good simply because Heath was a talented actor and I knew he would bring his A game. Thornton is also a top notch actor with a lot more range than people give him credit for, I'm sure that if this story is true... he will do his best to give us a scary Freddy.

Billy Bob rules!

Not sure why he's doing Freddy though...or why everyone's so frackin' upset about it.

Hope they take the character/franchise in an all new direction. Billy Bob doing an Englund impersonation will be too funny :lol

IF there must be a remake, which I dont think is necessary, but they are going to do it anyway, they need to sit back and analyzed what Fred Kruger really was. NOT, let me repeat that NOT, a wise crackin', one liner, pun making machine:)monkey4:monkey4:monkey4) which he eventually turned into, he was a sick, sadistic, ********* and murderer. *********. The lowest, most vile, repulsive and disgusting thing that exists on this earth. I dont like "funny man" Freddy, its lame, obnoxious, and annoying. The 1st NOES was great. It was dark, frightening and surreal. What followed was typically lame, unoriginal and lacking in an real horror.

I pray that this remake, or revisit or re whatever they are calling it, is true to Wes Craven original dark horror classic. Not the money machine, bad joke crap fest 95% of the sequels were.

If Billy does it, and as far as I can tell its still rumor, I hope is well written, well acted and above all taken seriously, not full of stupid puns and bad jokes.

I want the sadistic, revenge seeking Fred Kruger that made the original great.

That is all I have to say on the subject.

<!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message -->Oh, and one last thing, I dont think Robert Englund is essential to making a good NOES movie.

Heath Ledger is the ONLY Joker!!!!!! I Hope no one EVER re-casts that part again!!!!!!:rock:rock:rock

Jack Nicholson was just as good if not still better imo.

I guess for me it's that I can't get Bad Santa out of my head. I'm willing to entertain the notion that he'll pull a Ledger on us, but the role of Freddy really should have gone to an unknown so that the focus is on the character and audiences aren't distracted by a big name actor in the role.

What the hell, Bad Santa was an AMAZING flick, my stomach still hurts today from all the laughing and I think I watched it like 4 years ago.

"What the ^^^^s it with you and fixin sandwiches"?

I too love Thornton, always have, Sling Blade was a GREAT movie and his small part in Tombstone is still a scene me and my brother imitate all the time!

"Get that ******* cigar atta ma face" "Its like sittin with ma sisters kids, you nerve rackin sons of ^^^^^es" :D

Thonrton as Freddy = :rock

I WILL definetly go see this!

It's a good choice... He's got the right look for a Paedophile... When he has that clean cut, unassuming look about him... You know the man everyone knows but doesn't think twice about.... Until they read the news paper and freak out once they hear what his done... Plus he is a great actor.

Ledger is never even in the same ballpark as Nicholson is in that scene where he's talking to the freshly-electrocuted corpse of the mobster. That right there is the Nicholson nailing the character. Ledger's performance would be drastically divisive and controversial had he lived to see the film's release but he dies and VIOLA... universal acclaim.

You know its funny cuz I always think of that scene too, EXCELLENT acting that can only come from the great Nicholson. Theres that scene and then theres the scene with his surgeon, the laughing was disturbing and set the pace for the rest of the film.

However don't get me wrong, I think Ledgers performance was stunning and moving, I really did. I LOVED him as the Joker, he did an excellent "Different look" at it!

Nicholson just rules all imo, one of my favorites of all time! There is NO role he doesn't own.

I would agree that Nicholson is not in the same ballpark as Ledger - each Joker is a different character completely, but the more psychotic, manipulative genius is a far, far, far more complex role than a disfigured former mobster with an art obsession.

Please....please do not argue with Guru. If some of you guys think im bad in terms of debates....you aint seen nothin!

Also, you know, I like the idea. The original films will still exist, Rob is Freddy. I mean, he's played the damn character for more then 20 years. Thorton will be awesome. He always is. I cant wait to see this go down.

And why does everyone hate on New Nightmare, its second best in the series...keeps the same evil nasty Freddy from the first.....and gave him a bit of an attitude.

Ledger was really really good. But over-rated.

Dark Knight was really really good. But incredibly over-rated...

Nicholson was really really good. Fairly rated, i'd say...

To me the big issues are "why remake it?" and "why is Billy Bob Thornton doing this?"

He's a great actor and this is a step down for him.

After films like Bad Santa and Mr. Woodcock? More like a step up.

Quick fast shodddy PS.

"Bad Santa" is a comedy classic.

If you hate it I take it you either have some sort of uptight opposition to the extreme profanity or you simply haven't seen it.
