Ledger was really really good. But over-rated.

Dark Knight was really really good. But incredibly over-rated...

Nicholson was really really good. Fairly rated, i'd say...

Nicholson's Joker just looked like The Joker, a well fed Joker at that. But had none of the characteristics of the character.

Ledgers nailed the character, which is what matters most.

I just wouldn't bother with the whole Nicholson/Ledger debate, there IS no way you can compare the two together. Each played the part so different to the point where they are completely uncomparible.

I just don't see how you can pick "one" over the other, one was a freaking loonie tune and the other a "Joker" Its not even a question of "time" either, 20 years later and Nicholsons performance STILL has me convinced.

I will say however I DID find Ledgers performance both legendary and VERY entertaining. but NO comparison to debate.

Just my 2 cents though, your opinion can't be wrong right?

Robert England is FREDDY F'IN KRUEGER !!!! Hands down. It is just like watching the new Halloween Without Donald Plesance, ITS JUST NOT THE SAME. Look at the other remakes. OK but not in the same league as the origionals. Like one of the other dudes here said, Boris was Frankenstein, and NO ONE WILL REPLACE HIM, JUST LIKE FREDDY. Why dont they just invest in something that people would LOVE TO SEE. Like Freddy Vs Jason Vs ASH.
F the remake crap. THEY NEED TO LISTEN TO THE FANS !!!! I hope this is one of Freddy's Nightmares. :google

Cause slap stick comedy in any Jason/Freddy movie would be lame as hell.

It would prolly be like Army of Darkness, which was pretty lame.

I would agree that Nicholson is not in the same ballpark as Ledger - each Joker is a different character completely, but the more psychotic, manipulative genius is a far, far, far more complex role than a disfigured former mobster with an art obsession.

:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

I agree. And I also agree with Chase... I don't care what they do, as long as they keep Freddy evil and without resorting to puns. The first NOES is classic and does just that, the further along the series went... the more they lost that element.

The quote that you quoted says I typed it, but it's what I quoted from another post. How did that happen?

Why doesn't Englund want to come back, anyway? Did he hate the script or something? I think a remake would carry far more weight with the original actor returning.

Question:

How does this

Become better than this?

Answer:

It can't, there's more chance of the Sahara flooding or Bin Laden being caught in a New York fetish shop while buying a knob enlarger.

or better than this :D

you can put the makeup on anyone... but at least Billy Bob can act...

I heard on the radio this morning that Robert Englund said BB was an excellent choice. I guess if he gets that endorsement I'll give it the benefit of of the doubt.
I couldn't even get through Bad Santa....I've never seen a movie trying so hard to be shocking and edgy, and coming up as forced and uninspired.

No one else can act Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund is Freddy Krueger. Billy Bob may be able to act that should be a subject in another thread, but he's heading for a big old embarrassment for taking this part, he'll be ridiculed.

I think we're all being a little "knee-jerk" here, myself included. Think about it this way - it could've been some UPN/WB/flavor of the second twit. I said to my gf yesterday, "You're never going to believe who's playing Freddy Kreuger," and she said, "Zach Ephron?"
That put things in perspective. :)

I think the best way to put BB in the Freddy role would be to take the wise cracking side out of the character and make him a pure, dark, evil killer.

DOnt know how many have seen the Hillside Strangler movie, but in the same tone as that one.... :monkey1
