Some people take fox news out of context. They think Glen Beck and O'reilly and Hannity are the only thing on that channel. Granted, those are the programs that are played during the primetime 6:00-10:00 hours, but those are not news reporting, they are opinion shows, and should only be taken for that, someone's opinion. Every new network has them. MSNBC has that Ralph Machio. CNN has that one guy that is in love with Obama.

Unfortunately, I don't think some people are smart enough to see the difference between's someone's opinion and actual news reporting.

Fox reports on ALL news. CNN and MSNBC like to pick and chose what they report on. If it doesn't fit their left leaning agenda, don't expect much coerage on it at all.

Replace "some people" with "90% of Fox's audience".

The problem is that Fox tries to pass off these opinion shows as real news.

Unlike MSNBC? Olberman, Matthews, Maddow, etc. Well certainly CNN doesn't do that ... Behar, King, Cooper? From Olberman to O'Reilly, Maddow to Hannity, Beck to Behar ... the prime time slots on cable news are universally opinion journalism.

And, honestly, even journalism that pretends to be completely down-the-middle is at least somewhat opinion driven in what stories they choose to cover, and how the phrase their reporting. Politically speaking, the media has ALWAYS had a dog in the fight. There is simply no such thing as unbiased reporting.

Viewers understand that it is opinion -- they just typically agree with the opinions they watch. Viewers have also realized that most journalists have an agenda, and become far more selective, and hesitant to trust journalists generally. Gone are the days where Cronkite and Rather were the trusted final word, or where a network anchor's motives go unquestioned.

FoxNews and MSNBC are simply a reflection of that reality.

Fox's straight reporting is actually quite good. The political reporting on Special Report, formerly Brit Hume's show, is also extremely solid. When you get into Beck, Olbermann, maddow or Hannity, you're looking at straight opinion ... so viewers take it for what it is (a visual talk radio show).

You aren't gonna get more fair and objective TV news than this ^^ Very rarely do you see guys yelling and screaming at each other, or editorializing (unless it is a guest). Unfortunately, concerning commercial television news, I agree completely.

Sorry, but the difference to me is that Beck is straight up hate. I agree about the others, but no one, NO ONE, is as ridiculously insane and hateful in his rhetoric as Beck. Beck is on a whole other planet.

Another pointless poll by Faux News...say what you want about other news networks, but none would have such a stupid poll as this.

"Do you think that shifty-eyed illegal immigrants brutally murdering innocent puppies is a good, or bad thing? Log in to CNN.com and place your vote!"

Hey! There was no choice in that poll for "Depends on what breed of dog the puppies are".

Oh goody! A pathetic left wing "let's all bash Fox News because they don't toe the line" thread. Yippee!

Funny, but I was under the impression that these ridiculous political threads were forbidden here.

You give PBS too much credit.

Until his recent retirement, PBS employed Bill Moyers as a "journalist" for decades. He may not have screamed, but he is every bit the ideologue that Bill O'Reilly or Keith Olbermann ... possibly more.

Moyers was former press secretary for Lyndon Johnson, and among the most left-wing media figures in this country. He now regularly appears as a guest on "Democracy Now" (an Orwellian misnomer) with Amy Goodman, a daily marxist program on Pacifica radio that vocally supports any anti-American dictatorship the world over.

Nonsense. Olberman is 10x worse than Beck. Olberman recently had an MSNBC colleague (David Shuster, I believe) suspended for daring to speak ill of him on air. Beck is a run-of-the-mill "sky-is-falling" conservative. He's wrong somewhat, but nothing he says is any different than the 'chicken-little' liberals on MSNBC said about Bush for 8-years.

What does the News Hour have to do with Bill Moyers? Nada. I think too many people write off the news on NPR and PBS because they pick out a Billy Moyers or some cartoon on that channel where a gay couple is shown, and only see that. And that is unfortunate. It is the most objective, thoughtful analysis of the news you will find on TV or the radio, hands down. Bill Moyers was an editorialist, and I don't think he was trying to hide that.

For straight political news, I prefer Special Report w/ Brit Hume (I think its hosted by Brett Baier now). Both are rock solid. It is a Fox show, but nothing like Hannity or O'Reilly. The analysis panel typically has 2 conservatives (Fred Barnes and/or Willaim Kristol), 2 liberals (Mara Liason and/or Juan Williams) and a down-the-middle guy (Mort Kondrake). Good show for thoughtful political news.

Off topic I know but just a quick question. Should the international Red Cross provide medical training to the Taliban?
