And yet they are still orders of magnitude better than of the other options as a news source. So what does that tell you?

You don't have to be left-wing to hate Fox News, you just have to like real news.

There is a word that describes people who actually believe that CNN, MSNBC, or the network news agencies deliver real news, but I can't use it without getting suspended.

Most people don't have the time or interest to actually figure out what is going on. So, they resort to info-tainment like Fox or MSNBC. Does it bode well for democracy? Probably not. But I still have faith that the system works despite an ignorant populace and short-sighted, self-interested politicians who only think in terms of election cycles. That's the magic of the American political system. Unfortunately, we're definitely in a bad place right now. But I figure we'll get through it when the economy recovers a bit.

Though it probably violates board rules, I think the discussion here has been pretty civil. So, I'm not sure that it needs to be closed. I've had discussions on eBay policy and zombie movies that got a lot more touchy than this

I can get along with people with whom I disagree about politics -- being a conservative, I've kinda gotten used to being in the minority on online forums (no matter what the prevailing sentiment in the country, conservatives never dominate online forums) ...

... but I'm scorched-earth on zombie movies.

Just a thought... Perhaps if there were slightly less insinuation in this thread about the intelligence of people who do watch Fox News, there would be no need to reciprocate in kind. In other words, if you want respect, offer it first.

Intelligence has nothing to do with ideology. But one thing I have observed is that liberals are funnier than conservatives. How many great, right-wing comedians are out there? Guys like Larry the Cable Guy and Dennis Miller can't touch an Al Franken or David Cross. I'm not saying this is good or bad, but it is something I've noticed.

Perhaps liberals are simply more likely to pursue a performance career. Hollywood is upwards of 90% liberal ... so one would expect that the quantity of liberal comedians would exceed that of conservative professional comedians.
