In Banes defense, it was a high caliber explosive round capable of flipping a Tumbler and blowing a large hole in several cars, that finally killed Bane.

Do you know what makes a good villain? A villain you can not only relate too, but completely understand why he's doing what he's doing. You may not agree...but you know he's not entirely wrong. And then he does something. Something that shifts your perspective. Something that makes you go "No!"
That's what Loki did. You understood him in Thor, and you hated him in The Avengers. How many villains have come out in recent days that have gotten an APPLAUSE when he was taken out? Not many. Because most villains today are pretty week. You don't have that cathartic moment of triumph over evil, or wrong doers.
Loki had all of that. Loki wins. Easily.
Bane is better because he's darker. Eh. Ehh....
In the comics, I agree. Bane is a self made man in the comics. He got out of the hell hole he was in all by himself.
Bane didn't even climb out of the pit in the movie. He wasn't even the child that made the climb.
A little girl stole his heart and then he got his *** beaten down by rapists. The only way he got out was when said little girl somehow brought her daddy to come back and "exact terrible vengeance".
His motives? They don't even make sense unless you simply say he was her little lackey pup that did everything she said.
Not a very good backstory. Loki is way more developed story and had a better origin. Plus, charisma is everything. Loki is a little slimy puss, but that's what makes him so great. What does Bane do? He sits on people's faces and cries. Atleast Loki wasn't an honor less ***** that puts a shotgun to a tied up guy that owned him. He took his beatings like a man.
I'd even add that Bane is far more alien as a character, then the Alien Loki.
Bane doesn't have much of a motivation to do what he's doing. He's just "I'M BANE AND BLAH BLAH GARGGLE ROAR"
There's really no concrete purpose to why he's here, fighting Batman.
Except that Talia told him too.
And,
"I AM DA LEAGUE OF SHADOOOOOOOWS AND IMMA HERE TO FULFILL THE DESTINY OF THE GUY THAT HATED AND EXCOMMUNICATED ME!"
Really not surprised you came back with that.
Yeah, we all have our preferences. It'd be boring if we all thought the same. Like you said, grown men arguing over superhero villains.
Just for the record, I'm not completely enamored with Loki. He's certainly not my favorite comic book movie villain (The Joker takes that place, he destroys Bane). But when parred up with "big bad Bane"? I definitely gotta go with Loki.
^ Only because it was the end of the series. That's really the only way to allow that feeling in a big budget superhero franchise.
Because he could die here. It's possible.
But there was a chance. And that chance gave it some weight.I knew he wouldn't die. Deep down, YOU DID TOO.
DiFabio said:Iron Man could have died in the dimension worm hole. We all knew he wouldn't.
Frodo could have died. We all knew he wouldn't.
