In Banes defense, it was a high caliber explosive round capable of flipping a Tumbler and blowing a large hole in several cars, that finally killed Bane.

It was also set in a more reality based world so really bringing up how he dies shouldn't even counter in. Of course bane dies from that, he's not a god or a trickster.

Do you know what makes a good villain? A villain you can not only relate too, but completely understand why he's doing what he's doing. You may not agree...but you know he's not entirely wrong. And then he does something. Something that shifts your perspective. Something that makes you go "No!"

That's what Loki did. You understood him in Thor, and you hated him in The Avengers. How many villains have come out in recent days that have gotten an APPLAUSE when he was taken out? Not many. Because most villains today are pretty week. You don't have that cathartic moment of triumph over evil, or wrong doers.

Loki had all of that. Loki wins. Easily.

:goodpost::exactly:
exactly. You could even feel bad for Loki in Thor.

I'd even add that Bane is far more alien as a character, then the Alien Loki.

Bane doesn't have much of a motivation to do what he's doing. He's just "I'M BANE AND BLAH BLAH GARGGLE ROAR"

There's really no concrete purpose to why he's here, fighting Batman.

Except that Talia told him too.

Bane is better because he's darker. Eh. Ehh....

Really not surprised you came back with that.
In the comics, I agree. Bane is a self made man in the comics. He got out of the hell hole he was in all by himself.

Bane didn't even climb out of the pit in the movie. He wasn't even the child that made the climb.

A little girl stole his heart and then he got his *** beaten down by rapists. The only way he got out was when said little girl somehow brought her daddy to come back and "exact terrible vengeance". :lol

His motives? They don't even make sense unless you simply say he was her little lackey pup that did everything she said.

Not a very good backstory. Loki is way more developed story and had a better origin. Plus, charisma is everything. Loki is a little slimy puss, but that's what makes him so great. What does Bane do? He sits on people's faces and cries. Atleast Loki wasn't an honor less ***** that puts a shotgun to a tied up guy that owned him. He took his beatings like a man.

You make a lot of good points. We could do this all day. Everyone has their opinion and will like/vote for who we personally like, that's the point. I see your POV and as I said, good points and good points. I still say Bane and have my reasons but I'm not going to keep going because it's a never ending debate.

And,

"I AM DA LEAGUE OF SHADOOOOOOOWS AND IMMA HERE TO FULFILL THE DESTINY OF THE GUY THAT HATED AND EXCOMMUNICATED ME!"

Loki was my favorite character in both Thor and Avengers but Bane wins easily for me, I loved Hardy's performance and he is probably my favorite character in the whole trilogy.

Yeah, we all have our preferences. It'd be boring if we all thought the same. Like you said, grown men arguing over superhero villains. :lol

Just for the record, I'm not completely enamored with Loki. He's certainly not my favorite comic book movie villain (The Joker takes that place, he destroys Bane). But when parred up with "big bad Bane"? I definitely gotta go with Loki.

Yeah, I get ya. I'm personally not a huge Bane or Loki fan. I like them both but neither are top dogs for me. I'm a Batman fanboy, no denying that. But I try to be unbiased as possible. I'm not one of those guys who'll say Batman would beat Hulk or Iron Man or Wolverine, that's ridiculous.

With Bane I genuinely felt scared for Batman. With Loki, I knew he'd get taken down with a team like The Avengers.

^ Only because it was the end of the series. That's really the only way to allow that feeling in a big budget superhero franchise.

Because he could die here. It's possible.

Despite that, he could've died. You didn't really know.

Point is, because it was the "last" film, it gave the only reason for having any suspense weather Batman is going to win or not. Had it been another sequel, you wouldn't fear for his life.

given this being the comic book genre, even if some major character did actually die on screen, we know its really no big deal ... they'll be right back... :monkey1

That's very true. It being the final film did help add that feeling.

It's really the style of villain when you boil it down. Bane was a terrorist and that's why he went over well. Aside from the mask he was a real guy and the type of guys us Americans fear in this day and age. I remember when I saw the prologue in Imax and the "no. They'll expect one of us in the wreckage brother" line really stood out to me. He was more scarier for me as a villain because I knew that it wasn't some over the top comic villain. For those that prefer comic villains to provide a fantasy story and an unrealistic threat, clearly Loki wins.

I'm a huge Avengers fan and enjoy both styles. Had this been Loki vs Scarecrow or Two-Face I'd vote Loki.

Iron Man could have died in the dimension worm hole. We all knew he wouldn't.

That scene was meant to have weight to it, the audience were supposed to believe he wouldn't live thus making it a powerful scene.

It fell completely flat as everyone knew Iron Man 3 was coming the next year.
In fact all the main characters were safe from harm as there was already movies of them underway, the only one they could kill was the useless SHIELD agent :lol

It's an honor to get a beatdown from Hulk. Death by Catwoman is for pussies.

Bane: 2nd most mishandled comic book character of 2012. Sorry Dredd, your own people let you down!
