Loki is a major Marvel villain being compared to what if feel is a sub-par DC bruiser. In terms of sheer power and ability Bane pales in comparison to Loki.

Loki called BW a mewling quim, so he wins because he used the best line ever.
And the sheer fact that this sub-par DC bruiser is even being compared to Loki, a major Marvel villain, says a lot about Nolan's success to bring Bane to life.
I loved Loki. In Thor. By the time I finished watching Avengers and began watching DKR, Bane felt like a much better villain than Loki. And that says alot considering how much was at stake for the last movie of the trilogy. I went in expecting a sub-par DC bruiser and I got someone who got sooo close to Ledger material.
Loki never felt like a threat, more like the 'silver surfer' to the alien invasion. To Thanos.
Well put! I liked Loki better in Thor than in Avengers, too.
Bane was a much better villain....way more menacing and threatening.

Ok, a bunch of guys arguing about Bane vs. Loki. Let's get all radical and hear what the ladies have to say: we are, after all, 50% of the viewing audience. In no particular order:
1. Loki: beautiful costume.
Bane: Meh.
2. Loki: Beautiful, seductive voice. You can enjoy each syllable as he does stuff like disrespect Nick Fury and throw Tony Stark out of his own home tower.
Bane: WTH did he just say....? He speaks like an octagenarian. Or, a Darth Vader wannabe, or maybe both at the same time.
3. Loki: comes with complete set of intergalatic menace!
Bane: Well.... "I am the League of Shadows!" But somehow, I could not care less.
4. Loki: takes on Captain America and would have actually taken him had the rest of the Avengers not intervened.
Bane: Ok, fisticuffs with Batman. This is not unworthy of respect, but I get no sense of superhuman menace from him.
5. Loki: an extremely powerful sorcerer/illusionist with an entire galaxy of tricks up his sleeve.
Bane: Fisticuffs. And that's pretty much it.
And lastly, Bane is using a breathing device but we see no external support for this: where are the tanks he should be breathing out of? Immersion-breaking.
Actually if people prefer Bane, I have no problem with that. Opinions will differ. But to call Bane "extremely threatening"... well, no. He was a big, powerful guy but not much more of a menace than your average WWE wrestler. Batman by all rights should have mopped the floor with the movie version of Bane.

Actually, Loki wanted to get captured. I'd say he probably could've taken out Cap, IM, and Natasha if he wanted to.

Yeah Loki never felt like a threat big enough to assemble a team for. He spent haf the movie in custody, couldn't escape by himself (Joker TDK, Magneto X2) and was easily defeated within moments by Thor & then by Hulk
