Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I can't stop looking at that gif, it's actually hypnotizing.

The axle or whatever connects the tires to the main body of the pod just disappear as the wheels spin. :horror

I'm sure this idea was born out of the fact that the Batpod couldn't turn well. So, in 2007, when they needed to show Batman fly out of the alley (turning to his left), facing the audience and the Joker, they just said "**** it, we can't do it, CGI it".

Now that this thing is upon us, how long do you guys think it will be before Hot Toys' announces the original "Bat-Pod"?

And how many of you Keaton completists would get it?

.

Me! I would get two of them.

The Bat Pod is for the Corky Thatchers of the world.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

The cannons on both sides of the pod's wheels should also get scratches and should have produced sparks on the pavement as the wheel rotates.

Yea no sparks and damage to he cannons is just ridiculous. It really was a dopey gimmick. That gif has wrecked that whole scene for me now. :gah: :lol

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Look how close Batman's feet are to the back wheel. How those tires manage to miss his feet and the fact that the guns cannons don't break into the pavement are beyond me.

I remember loving the Batpod up until it did that dumb wall thing after he subdues the Joker. I like how they linger on it (and on his face) like it's a "cool moment" like, "yeah, he did that". :lol

In TDKR it gets even worse.

My beef with the Batmissile is how the Batmobile possibly contains that sort of tech inside of it. We don't see any seams on the canopy, or on the sides. The shape of the vehicle, the windshield, everything just changes with no visible seams or anything. Cool sequence and idea, like the Tumbler/Batpod combo, ridiculous transition.

Easy, it's tucked away in the same magical infinite compartment space that the shields and the retractable turntable get put when they're not in use. :lol

Yeah I've always chuckled at the idea of the hydraulic lift just magically appearing. Where the heck is THAT thing when it's all closed up? Especially since he can just punch through the floor to the street if he wants.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Batman's vehicles and arsenal are Asgardian magic, clearly.

Magic shields, magic turntables, magic vehicle transformations, magic Batpod wheels, magic knee braces.

I still wonder how those sonar lenses on the Bat cowls in Batman Forever and Dark Knight possibly fit inside the mask, let alone all this other junk. The mask is so tight on his face that the lenses would cut his eye ***** off.

Ain't the batpod wheels turning all digital?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Yes, there is no way that was a practical (real world) effect.
The entire part where he rotates was digital as well. Which is why it cuts to a close up of his face right after he spins, implying it's a different shot.

I think they added it because there isn't anything else they can do to the batpod to make it seem "cool". It's a really simple design overall.

The batpod is the only batman vehicle I don't like for that reason. I remember when I watched the TDK and TDKR, how many teens jumped, or screamed in joy when he turned with this vehicle.

Did we get dimensions of the batmobile yet from someone with it in hands? I'm hoping its the same width or less as the tumbler! *fingers crossed*

Just got notification that my final FlexPay ($63) plus shipping ($112 :monkey4 ) will be charged on Monday 7-15-13 ! :yess:

Mine Gets charged on the 20th and it does feel like an eternity. I'll be at SDCC asking SS If they have one there so that I can bring this bad boy back to utah. Could happen, right?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

This was revealed SDCC 2011. :lol

What a crazy wait, but it almost feels justified with it being released now.

This just feels right.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

That long ago?! When was it first available for PO?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Almost a year and a half, WOW.
Wasn't the Adam West batmobile on display as well? That would make for an impressive collection of Bat-vehicles, where the hell did that one go?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Gosh those Schumacher-mobiles suck with their gaudy pyrotechnic flames shooting 10 feet out of non-functioning afterburners. :monkey1

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Oh yeah, wouldn't buy them really.
I have the tumbler, batpod and now this beast (well, on the 20th I will) and adding the 1966 batmobile would be just amazing.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Anyone still debating buying this or has the decision been stamped in the books?
